Worth the abuse. Sure she’s brusque (I’ll call it that…) but you don’t bake like that without some love. If it’s not in the service it is in the bread. Some of the best rye and old school artisan breads anywhere, and the sweets are to die for. Consider the attitude part of the experience.
Woman….is rude…. The older German woman is rude….every time I go in there she’s is there…always unpleasant….4.90 and she refused my debit card…said it had to be over 5 dollars…that’s fine but…her attitude was horrible…I having givin her many chances…not any more ill drive to Victoria to Dutch bakery for there Black Forest cake…
The Best Bakery Goods!!. I have been going to this bakery since we first moved to Duncan, when my son was a baby, 12 years now. And I won’t purchase my bread anywhere else! They are amazing!! One of our favorites is their pretzel bun….freshly baked and the best in the mornings…..slap a european weiner in there and some good german mustard….and you are set!!!!! Even their cookies are to die for….they are made without any added ingredients. Seriously….if you want the best baked goods then this is the place to go. Their christmas cookies are amazing….and I have to wait all year to get one…my mouth waters at the thought!! Everyone is allowed their opinion, but I think the previous one is untrue. After being a loyal customer myself for 12 years you get to know the people who serve you. And the service here has always been the best and super friendly!! And as for there being no garbage accepted by them that the customer makes….it is a bakery and their store policy. Can’t judge them for cleaniness lol….garbage created by the customer can be taken out to the street and tossed in the trash. Trash from foods tend to create foul odors and pests….it is a something that no good bakery wants!!!!
Everyone raves about the bakery at Cowichan bay. I live in the Bay, not more than 500 feet from it and never have understood that, frankly. The Westfalian is ever so much better. Well worth the drive over for the rye bread alone, when we entertain we always buy something from the cake and pastry display. Friendly service, quality goods and a complete lack of the pretence which rubs me the wrong way closer to home.
