Had a great meal this weekend at La Baia, however we all thought that the usually awesome Ceasar Salad dressing was not the same. Has something changed with the recipe? If so, please go back to the original. Thank you.
I’ve been here 4-5 times now and the food is always great. I usually get the Prawn Penne but I recommend the mussels if they have them in seasons when you go. The sauce they cook them in is delicious. To me, this place is always a treat. Also, I love to sit in the older gentleman’s section, he’s super sassy and hilarious.
Wow..A Great Eating Experience. Tucked away on Marine Drive, this is a local secret that should be shared. This restaurant has been operating at the same location for over 30 years. I have visited 3 times in the past 3 months, returning whenever I come out to White Rock to visit a friend. A total 5 star restaurant… great food, great service, great ambiance. Highly recommended!Oh, I forgot to mention.. great value! my fav is a seafood dish, with 4 types of seafood, veggies, rice and sauce for a small sum of $20.50. A special thanks to our waiter, Jeff, and the staff behind the scenes that put it all together.
Great meal, but watch your wallet. My husband and I spent a wonderful 4 days vacationing in White Rock and decided that for our last night here we wanted to try what looked like a nice little Italian place for a romantic dinner. It seemed like the perfect way to end our stay here. I will start off by saying that the food was excellent and the service was good . My husband was planning on leaving a nice tip for the service, however it seems our waiter decided that he had the right to decide what his service was worth. After we finsihed dinner the waiter brought our check and my husband gave him cash towards the bill. We waited at least 15 or 20 minutes for our waiter to bring back our change so we could take the tip out of that and leave. He never came back. I saw him briefly as he hurried by to pick up payment left by another table, but then he disappeared again. We wanted to leave him a decent tip, but I think it was a bit presumptious of him to think we were leaving him the entire amount – we were planning on tipping 25% not 35%.We ended up leaving without saying anything and the waiter had the nerve to wish a good evening from the back of the restaurant. It kind of tainted what had until then been a wonderful, romantic dinner out. Perhaps we should have said something to the owner as we left, but honestly we were a little embarassed to do so – like it would make us look bad. However we did want to warn anyone planning on eating here. The food was good, but if you plan on paying with cash and expect change, you may want to make that clear as soon as you hand it over otherwise you may never see your waiter again. We are not cheap, but having worked in or known those who work in the service industry we do expect that the customer sets the rate of the tip, not the server.
Great little spot. Intimate dining, excellent food, not bad service. The interior could use a little sprucing up though!!
