The other day the husband and I came here late and pressed for time. We shared a beef dip and came out quick. Everything worked. I normally dont eat sauted mushrooms, but the mushrooms worked and blended well with the sandwich. They accommodated us sharing the dish. We visited this place years ago and since then got rid of their big burger with a hotdog on it.

Revised Menu hits a New Low… This place is what it is.. it has untrained staff, and more so, untrained managers. This seems to be the last of the Fogg N’ Suds Franchise, all the others seemed to have closed. There has always been a vision problem, and a systems problem with this place. Last night I ordered the Seafood Penne, a dish that I had ordered many times in the past, and thought they pulled off well. It used to come with some Penne noodles with a nice piece of grilled Salmon and about 6 medium prawns….NOW I order the dish and there is a few small scraps of salmon hidden in the noodles and 3 prawns. I asked the server if I could talk to the acting manager, he said, that this was now the way they were preparing the dish. Fine. Now maybe the food cost on this dish was bit high for them, but the answer is not to just to wreck the dish…racing to the lowest common denominator … here’s an idea.. charge another 5 bucks and serve the dish right ! This is what other restaurants of the same caliber are doing. (eg. Moxies,Earls,Shady Island) The funny part is that manager agreed with me …. saying the the dish is now sub-standard.. but did nothing. Typical. This is a restaurant and bar that is close to our house and businesses. We like the place, and we think it has potential.I come there with my co-workers and least once a week for lunch, and my dinner-mate for appies and beers in the evening. I hope that they actually listen to feedback from the customers… consistency in the menu… in the cocktails…. and in the service… is the only way a restaurant can survive. ..this place need to work on all three !

Peeped this joint one day with a co-worker of mine for happy hour as its very close to where he and I both work. What struck me first was the more elevated ambiance of the bar; clean, modern, simple and definitely a step up from most other bars I’ve been to. The food here is excellent! Standard pub fare with a few surprising additions on the menu you wouldn’t expect e.g. wonton soup. The service here is a touch above most bars for sure. Lastly, let’s talk about the liquor! Solid drink selection/prices with a wonderfully diverse selection of import spirits coming from countries like South Africa, Jamaica, Ireland, and China just to name a few. I love you Foggy and you’ll be seeing your boy around in the future no doubt!

Used to come here often during my college years for wing Wednesdays and beer. This recent visit was the first in probably 10-12 years. It has been renovated so it looks nicer and now has a nice patio in the back. Food is not bad. Caesar was not the best as it was quite tart, too much pickled juice. They continue to have wing Wednesdays but also Sundays now for $4.99 a lb. They now offer 15 wing flavours. Service was mediocre. Thought server could have checked on us more often as it was a slow afternoon.

Sun and wed wing nights. 4.99 a lb which is not so bad considering how crowded other places are.

Won’t return or recommend!. I ordered a bison burger on a gluten free bun with fries. The burger tasted like it was warmed up after being previously cooked and then frozen and warmed up again – it was overcooked, hard, and barely warm, the inside nearly cold. The bun tasted like drywall – although I know gluten free bread can be like that, I’ve had better, and if everything was hot it may have been better. The only WARM thing was the onions and mushrooms on top – and they were only warm. The fries were also cold. Service was abysmal -the server was pleasant but unprofessional, untrained, lacking personality, and seemingly somewhere else both physically and intellectually. I considered ordering an app – and instead of making a suggestion and encouraging sales, she said the burger was a big order – since when do you talk a diner OUT of ordering more? clearly untrained and unknowing that more sales = bigger tip and more likely keeping your job! I also mentioned I might get something to go for later in the hotel room, she never returned to see how the food was or if I’d like to order that take out. Another lost opportunity! None of the staff seemed interested in the diners. The hostess, server and bar-keep/manager were barely present with the exception of doing the minimum on the floor and then disappearing into the back. That is with the exception of the hostess stepping forward from the back to check me out since it was apparent the server passed on my complaints about the food. The server and hostess were both needed to serve a table of 3 and both of them oblivious to the fact that I was trying to get their attention for the bill. Not sure if that was more of their inobservance or deliberate because they new I wasn’t happy with the food? When I told the server my complaints about the food, she nodded in agreement – so she too didn’t like the bison burger! lol! and if she had any sense she would have steered away from it, not by saying anything negative, but by suggesting a dish she does like or one popular with regulars – that is if they even get regulars. Anyway, she doesn’t seem to realize she’s in sales – she should be pushing what’s good and even a bit pricier, it only behooves here and the restaurant if she does. But then her mgr, who should be a role model, doesn’t seem to have any customer service/sales skills either. She would serve a beer and disappear in the back. When I did share my concerns about the food with the server, she was pleasant and said she’d tell the kitchen – but that’s not good enough, a good server/sales person need to apologize and find out how they can remedy it. Later I asked her if the bartender was also the manager and she said yes, and proceeded to tell me they had given me a discount on my meal. I should have asked how much because I would have laughed out loud at the $1.95 discount given when I was entitled to that measly amount anyway as a guest at a nearby hotel. I thought about arguing it, but I felt it would have fallen on deaf ears anyway, so chose not to. And besides what would I get another $1.95? – hardly worth any effort on my part. Instead I chose to leave a below sub-par tip with a note on the bill as to why. Tipping that low has never my style – I put myself through University waitressing and am a very generous tipper. I also know that terrible food is not the servers fault – however, how she handles problems is, and the service she/he delivers (despite bad food), is also her/his responsibility. Myself and other teachers often overnight in Richmond and I’ll be sure to warn them away from the Frogg n’ Suds….at this point McDonalds is a better alternative and most of us don’t eat that kind of food. A shame really because the place had an okay atmosphere – nothing spectacular, but okay, enough to return if the food and service were better. I don’t recommend going no matter what your options! I’ll go hungry next time.

Surprisingly good eats!. I have been here a couple of times and perhaps my expectations were too low, but I have been fairly impressed so far. The food is quite solid! Service can be a hit or miss, I suppose, as it was great on my first visit, but lacking during my last visit. The waitress completely missed the order of one our dishes and didn’t really offer an apology. Also, despite the restaurant not being busy at the time, it was near impossible to flag down a waitress and the food took longer than expected to arrive. They were good about refilling our water glasses at least.Service issues aside, the food will definitely have me up for revisiting. Great tasting food, no skimping on the ingredients, good presentation. Even their fries are fantastic. Crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside and despite being unsalted (upon my request), they had a delicious taste that is surprisingly uncommon in fries. Pretty solid stuff.
