I rarely write poor reviews because I like to celebrate great places and I had heard many good things about this place from a friend but this place is bad. Other Commenters mention that they cut into the meat so that the spices can really get into the food, but no.. they cut the thigh so that it cooks faster – also it releases all the juices so it’s DRY!There were spices but the flavour was bland like they used old spices that no longer had any flavour. It couldn’t even be described as salty. And it was very greasy. The box was soaked through within 10 mins. The place was super dodgey – which doesn’t bother me too much as I prefer ‘hole in the wall’ restaurants. The place was empty at the dinner hour, where one would expect a dinner rush and still the service was apathetic, but relatively quick (15 mins wait). I would have over looked all of this in favor of their neighbour if it had been tasty. If you can’t make it into LA Chicken, their neighbour, forgo this place and seek alternatives for a Fried Chicken Craving… even KFC, Churches or Shake and Bake will do you better. Not worth your time or money. Didn’t take a picture because the food was unappetizing. Save yourself. beautyandthefeast.ca
I drove down to Richmond today with a friend to try Red Rooster. We walked up to the counter and both of us ordered a three piece with fries and a drink. We were told we would have to wait 15 minutes. Fine. So about 15 minutes later he calls us up to the counter but there’s only one order there. Apparently he got mixed up somehow, and thought that the two of us only wanted one three-piece order. He then told me I would have to wait another 10 to 15 minutes. Not a great start. So 10 or 15 minutes later, I get my three-piece with fries. I don’t know, I guess I was expecting something really great. Judging by the reviews I’ve read, and the word broasted to describe their chicken, I was expecting a lot more than what I received. The fries were decent, and were coated in some kind of masala spice. Nothing phenomenal, but they were alright. For my chicken, I had ordered three thighs. They were three of the weirdest looking thighs I have ever seen. They were cut very strangely, and were unlike any other chicken thigh I have ever eaten. They were coated with the same masala spice, and in all honesty I wouldn’t believe that they were broasted versus just deep-fried. Essentially, it wasn’t much different from KFC, other than the masala spice on them. Meh. I love fried chicken, and in the past I’ve literally driven 150 km out of my way on a trip to get really good fried or better yet, broasted chicken. In all honesty, this wasn’t worth the drive from downtown Vancouver to Richmond. It wasn’t bad chicken, but as a say, it really wasn’t any better than KFC.’s to bed Vancouver doesn’t have someplace for really good fried chicken. Or as a said before, better yet, broasted chicken. There used to be a place locally called Carlyle’s that had absolutely incredible broasted chicken. They also had a coleslaw that went with it that was unbelievably good. It’s really too bad they’re not around anymore, because I would drive 100 kilometers to get their chicken. Sadly, the search for really good affordable fried chicken in Vancouver continues. And even more sadly, Church’s chicken seems to be the best.
Can’t eat anywhere else. Cons:- Place looks a bit shabby, the building shows its age.- The chicken burger. Don’t buy it.- Have to wait 10 to 15 minutes after ordering for the food to arrive.Pros:- The owner Kash and his brother Sack(sp?) are great people. Excellent, friendly, personable service.- You can call ahead and preorder your meals so it’s ready when you arrive.- Chicken and fries. Buy it.My friends and I walked in there completely by accident. We were heading to Lee’s Chicken across the street when we noticed this place and decided to give it a try. We found out that they’d only been open a month.Best. Decision. Ever.If you like fried chicken, be warned. You won’t be able to eat fried chicken from anywhere else after having Red Rooster’s Broasted chicken. With good sized pieces, excellent spices and flavor, this is one of the few places where I can eat fries (almost always firm and crunchy) without any kind of sauces, but ketsup and hot sauce are available. At $6.00 for two piece meal with fries and a drink, it’s one of the best fried chicken places in town.
Ok let’s face it, the decor and menu picks don’t make this place jump the queue when thinking about places to eat. But I have to say, the chicken is by far the best chicken I have had. Ever. Juicy, tender, not a lot of fat– this should be your first choice when you feel like ordering in a bucket. Seriously.
Their pizza is good and the chicken is amazing. Definitely worth trying I’d suggest the chicken meal with fries ! So good.
Excellent- Go for the chicken. The only thing on the menu worth trying is the chicken and fries. This place beats the competition acroos the road by a 10 km. The chicken is less greasy and so much more flavorful, the fries are crunchy and need nothing on them. The spices are very nice. I don’t eat fried chicken often but this place……does it beautifully well.
Red Rooster I had my order …. Red RoosterI had my order come by delivery. The employee on the phone was very nice.My food was fantastic.Fries didn’t need ketchup, guess it’s true that they’re really good. The Chicken was flavourful and moist, possibly the best I’ve ever had.
