This is a sweet shop and restaurant. The food is excellent for staples of a Punjabi kitchen. The taste is well balanced, not too oily. I liked the vegetarian thali a lot more than their meat thali. Their samosas are always excellent. I didn’t like the fish curry – in my books it was oily and the fish wasn’t fresh. I want to try the saag makki roti (corn roti) next time

NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY AT THIS PLACE. I ORDERED CHICKEN CURRY, GOT HOME AND THEN ONLY TO FOUND OUT THAT THEY GAVE 3 SMALL PIECES OF CHICKEN THAT LOOKS STRIPPED ALMOST TO THE BONE, REST FULL OF SAUCE. WORTH $10.30 TAX INCLUDED LIKE HOW IN THE WORLD. I ACTUALLY MADE AN ACCOUNT JUST TO GIVE YOU THIS RATING BECAUSE OF HOW MUCH I AM PISSED RIGHT NOW. SO GUYS BEWARE. NEVER BUY AT THIS PLACE ONLY THE SAMOSAS ARE FINE.

This sweet shop and restaurant has been around since I went to high school in the area (read: a long time), and it’s still just as good! Introduced to me by my half East Indian high school sweetheart (other half Russian… yes, a suburb culinary combo!) I still enjoy their delicious barfi from time to time. This was also the go to office lunch option, where I thoroughly enjoyed their vegetable and paneer pakoras, palak paneer, naan and amazing samosas. I’m a bit of a carnivore so as such I’m in love with their beef samosas. These lovely pockets of goodness consists of deliciously spiced beef contained within a perfectly crisp shell and a pea or two thrown in for good measure. Yum!

Bad experience. We order from baba sweet many times and most of the time we order fish pakora, first two times it came with tartar sauce but lately the pakora are so dry and no tartar sauce provided. We just ordered recently and we told the order taker that the last time we ordered we didn’t receive the tartar sauce, she told us that we need to pay extra for the sauce but I thought it comes with the fish pakora. But this time again they didn’t send any tartar sauce. So when I phoned to complain they keep passing the phone to each other and nobody is willing to listen to me then they hang up the phone. I phoned again 3-4 times but I think they have a call display and they pick the phone up and hang up right away. My question is what kind of customer service this is? We don’t get the food for free, we always pay for our food. We should / we deserve a good service and quality of food. If they make a mistake they should listen to customers and correct the mistake right away rather than hanging up on the customer. I hope someone will read this and do something about this. Because the baba sweet in 6th st is the worst restaurant.!!! Staff should know how to smile and say thank you and for me we never going back to this restaurant again.

Watery Food. Got takeout from this place, ordered lamb curry, plain naan, and veg samosa. Lamb curry taste very bland and watered down, naan was super oily and had a funny smell. The only thing that was passable was the veg samosas that tasted like they were spiced. The other item I would go back to this place for would be the samosas.

I had heard the samosas were amazing but I was disappointed. The veggie samosas consisted of thick greasy crusts filled with pasty potato (almost like clumps of mashed potatoes) with a few green peas. The potatoes roti tasted burned. I prefer Royal Tandoori better.

Grouchy all over. Baba Sweets used to be pretty good. Some of the dishes I have tried are quite, quite flavourful, others seem watery. They are known for their snacks, but I cannot say I like the pakoras…they are not crispy at all and kinda rubbery, plus I couldn’t taste the coriander. The place has become dirty and we are hesitant to go in cause the servers/operators are REALLY contrary. Have also been overcharged more than a couple of times.
