DON’T GO YOU’LL REGRET IT. The new owner completely wrecked this place. He doesn’t care about you. He just cares about money. He doesn’t honour what’s advertised on groupon or their own website. Also he hires people who don’t know how to properly make the drinks. I had to tell him (the owner) how to make a tequila sunrise. It’s so sad because I used to go here regularly it was great, but since reopening and new ownership it’s a dump.

Last night my friends and I had one of the worst experiences we have ever had at a restaurant or pub.Im taking the time to write this because I want all of you to avoid this establishment at all costs so you may spare yourselves the insanity in which we had to endure. We wanted wings. I remembered that I saw a sign for the Oliver Twist Pub a while back for Wed Wing night. We looked it up online. Sure enough, their website stated it was and wings were $0.39! We decided to go. When we got there, our waitress informed us that they cost $0.59 each. We let that go since we were parked and seated. We ordered 6 orders of wings, yam fries and beer. When the wings came they were barely sauced. We sent back a few orders. While the waitress had our orders of wings on her tray to take back to the kitchen, she stopped to make sure all her other tables were ok first and punched in some orders on her computer. All within eye shot. 5 min later she brought back our wings, this time they were so soaked in sauce that they were practically inedible. As well as cold!We didnt send them back. We ate a few and left the rest. We ordered more beer and she brought us the wrong beers. We mentioned to her, the mistake but said its fine, we will finish them and leave. She brought the bill and the machine and we tried to pay but it died. She talked to the manager for about 15 min before bringing another debit machine that also didnt work. This repeated two more times and took roughly 40 min. All while the manager and her refused to take blame and kept telling us it wasnt their fault. Clearly, it was. If you are working as a server or bartender and you dont charge your machines how do you expect people to pay? Someone who is good at their job, even ok at their job would know to keep them charged. They told us we now had to use their in-store ATM which gives a hefty service charge there then again through your bank. Had it been mentioned as we sat down, that it was cash only, we would have been fine with it. However, after a terrible meal, terrible service, then having to wait almost an hour to leave,we were quite angry.I asked to speak to the manager the bartender who was posing as the manager called the owner who drove over. He was barely apologetic and said that he would knock 10% off our bill for the inconvenience! Can you believe that? What a slap in the face. The hilarity of it was that I explained to him everything that happened. He tells me Im sorry, I had a heart attack a month ago. What does his health have anything to do with this situation? I told him that this was unacceptable. He didnt budge. We were basically forced to use their ATM, pay and leave. Even after we pulled money out of the ATM, our server made us wait another 10 min for her. The owner obviously has no cares about his customers. He doesnt know customer service and all he cares about is getting money. So do him a favor. Show that you will not support greedy establishments like this and spend your hard earned dollars somewhere else!

WARNING: No more 5.95 Food or 3.95 Pints!!! They got rid of their cheap prices, and the food is still the same!I phoned on Wednesday to ask for a reservation for 10 people for 8pm on Saturday. I left a message and never got a call back. Saturday evening I call and confirm 10 people for 8pm, she has no problem but says there’s a 20% gratuity charge. I’m thinking, okay, no worries because our server is normally Kelly and she’s awesome.Fast forward to not getting Kelly as our server (turns out it was the manager Raj instead). She wasn’t very smart or courteous…didn’t seem to have a clue about the drinks she served (sounded like a high schooler read a textbook and recited a description word for word. She clearly isnt drinking what shes serving). She was fake nice, which can be enough, but we were waiting 30+ minutes between checkups on easily the biggest tab of the night. We didn’t order food because 5.95 turned into 11.95 on the menu, and the wings are now 9.95 + aren’t big anymore either!I’m sorry, this used to be our go-to, but I don’t think we’ll be back. Ever. Really poor service. Don’t know how to make drinks. Made a Caesar with cranberry juice and argued it was made right. Waitress was ditzy and annoyed with requests. Food was ok.

I have gone to this place before they shut down temporarily and I recently went there again after they reopened. I’ll comment on the visit since reopening. Oliver Twist has a bit of a weird layout, when you walk in there is a bar and a small section of tables but not to worry there is an upstairs with many tables and a great amount of LCDs. The service here was very good. The waitress was very attentive and got our drinks super fast and anything else we asked for. The food was good. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich and house salad. The only issue I really had was that it didn’t seem like beef brisket to me, I’ve had good beef brisket sandwiches in the past and this one at Oliver Twist was more sandwich deli meat which still tasted good. My gf ordered the chicken burger which I tried and was very good. Fries and house salad were good as well. Drinks were cold and beer on tap tasted fresh. They are obviously giving this place a real push to make it as an older gentlemen(assuming he’s the owner) came around to each table and was asking how it was. Definitely a nice touch there. It is also showing as the place was packed for what I believe was a Tuesday of Wednesday night. Give it a try.

They don’t have specials anymore contrary to their Menu… P.S. their service and food are both awful.. Disgusting service, mediocre food.My mom and I went there just today for dinner using a Groupon. We noticed that the special had the Steak and Prawn for only $14 each, which was wonderful that it fit within our Groupon’s range and ordered one for both of us. My mom, who likes confirmation even asked the server if it was indeed $14 each. Please note for further down, the original price for the Steak and Prawn was $18. (You can even view their website for their Saturday Special.)When our meals arrived, my medium rare steak was adequate, not chewy but not too flavorful. Guess I shouldn’t expect too much from a Pub.My mom’s steak, ordered Medium, had the texture of biting into a leather wallet. I’ve never tried to eat a leather wallet, mind-you, but to imagine such is how the texture felt in my mouth.I asked politely if the steak could be returned for another go. I know, it’s steak and I’m using a groupon… but if you serve me crud, I will have no remorse sending it back. When it did come back, it was the same piece and it tasted like they microwaved it. Disgusting….When I was showing the male server the groupon on my phone, he snatched it out of my hands and left. When he returned with the bill, he didn’t even bring my phone back. I was rather unhappy so I asked him to get my phone, without a please. It’s a Galaxy Note 2, and I would have had a real fun time if my $500 phone vanished. Without even a sorry, he returned it and left. When my mom and I were grumbling and even remarking about maybe returning in a year, I noticed that they had charged us $36 or $18 each. So I talked to the guy and asked him why we were overcharged. At this point, he said he didn’t and the special was not on any longer. I told him it was on the menu and that my mom had asked. He said he couldn’t do anything and whined about it.At this point, my mom and I were fed-up. My mom even asked to speak to the manager and was told by the server that -he- was the manager. I had it, I told him that he had better honor the deal. He retorted that he didn’t put my mom’s pop on the receipt. I had to reply that $8 difference was not going to cut it for one pop. In the end, he said he would make it a $5 charge and not the $7.90. Then the server/manager guy puts in $7.90. The hell?! I had to tell him to put in $5 and he said again that no, the bill is $7.90….Sigh… Finally he entered $5 and whined that he would have to pay the rest. Too bad. This place has disgusting service and shoddy food. Don’t ever go there. They will rip you off, especially it seems, if you bring-in a Groupon.

Oliver Twist needs to straighten out. My g/f and I have been to this place 4-5 times in the past, first checking it out using a Groupon. I sure wish I would have reviewed it then cuz it was fantastic with a great menu that was far above most bar food. They had real entres like Gumbo penne, Butter chicken, and other good items. Unfortunately I waited to review this place after they changed the menu and I can only assume the cooks. Im sorry if this is not helpful to your dining questions, I can only hope someone from the Oliver Twist reads this and gets back on track.
