Pho Edmonds was chosen as our venue for lunch recently, after a couple hours shopping stores and markets on Edmonds and a nearby area of Kingsway. We arrived shortly after the restaurant had opened (about 11:10 am), and were able to find parking in front, within the Plazas small-sized parking lot. Dining there was a first-time experience for us.We were greeted upon entering, and once settled at a table, brought menus and tall glasses of cold water. We sought a little assistance in making our final decision on what pho to order, and placed our order. The dishes arrived from kitchen to our table in a rather nice, timely sequence. What we ordered and shared (threesome): dishes as per listings in the in-house menu.- Appetizers: #1 – Cha Gio – Spring Roll (3) #7 – Canh Ga Chien – Deep Fried Chicken Wing (6 pcs) #8 – Mue Chien – Calamari.- Pho: #9 – House Special Mixed Beef w/Rice Noodle Soup (large).- House Specials: #47 – Wonton Soup (6 pcs).Food presentations: very plain & simple – especially the appetizers – which lacked even hints of garnishes for some added colour against their all-white plates. All presentations not particularly appealing, or very exciting to the senses when brought to our table.Food preparations varied: Soups quite solidly ok – stocks flavourful, ingredients plentiful and tender – overall, the two (very different) soups were tasty, and enjoyed. Appetizers just barely ok – spring rolls very greasy, highly-overcooked, ingredients dry calamari – texture a touch tough, dish very bland in flavour & taste chicken wings – a touch overcooked, tasty, but meat a little dry.The small venue, ambiance, and service worked fine for me (us), but I had anticipated, and definitely hoped for a more, and better effort on the restaurants part re: their food presentations and preparations.
