I frequent the Moka House often. I love their coffee, especially their mocha; reasonable selection of teas, and decadent treats. I especially enjoy their gluten free treats. Unfortunate that some reviewers have had an unpleasant experience, but what were their expectations? If you don’t like the coffee then go somewhere that better suits your tastes. Moka House coffee, ambience, patio suits my tastes.
Abysmal, rude service. When attempting to point our that the item we would like was priced in the display case at a different price than we were charged (yes, we can compute taxes), we were met with an incrediably rude, argumentive and agressive attitude. Too bad. – we love to support local shops…
Scruffy facility – needs perking up. Hot choc cool – steam machine lacking as at least two others besides us asked to have drinks nuked! Pastry was nice; tea hot; but couldn’t figure out how our bill was arrived at…NOT the Moka House we used to know. Is this a cash cow for owners? Needs reinvestment considering volume of trade.
Poopy face staff. Horrible vibe taken from every experience and that’s being nice. Why would the women working there look at anyone like that. Just gross faced and rude to say the least. Wow my girlfriend and me recently move to the area and went a few mornings but never again as I noticed the cheesy man hater vibe and weird customers totally wanting to be noticed. Oh ya I’m not impressed with the crappy fake bikers that don’t ride but park their bikes to be noticed and act all butch. This place is for confused and lost souls that obviously don’t want a good coffee but a gay hook up. Weak scene and creepy. Not a good first impression of cook st. Village. Rude and bad. Worst experience to date here in vic
Good realestate bad coffee. Despite all the competition they still get by on their location and a decent patio. The coffee is (still) very terrible. And that is incredibly relevant given its a coffee house. Still it really is a great location so I won’t pretend I never go there, but if you just want a java to go you are probably better off grabbing one at McChokeandpukes. Really.
My Favourite Coffee House. I’ve been a regular customer of the Moka House that is located in the Cook Street Village for over ten years. Since I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t go to Pubs. Instead, I go to the Moka House. I’m there almost every day for my favourite beverage, green tea, and something to eat. The menu has recently expanded to include several types of soups-of-the-day. All the soups that I’ve tried have been delicious; I wish they served larger bowls of it though. Quite often, I will order their granola and one of the three types of yogurt they sell. Their granola and yogurt makes a delightful light breakfast. If I want a more substantial breakfast, I have the Moka House’s Breakfast Sandwich. It’s a similar concept to McD’s Egg McMuffin, but, unlike McD’s creation, the Moka House’s Breakfast Sandwich is made with excellent quality ingredients and more effort. I’ve read some people’s complaints about the Moka House’s coffee. However, I see the same people lining up for the Moka House’s coffee over and over again. Obviously, it is good enough to bring people back for more. Some people have complained about the plastic chairs on the veranda. The current chairs are recent replacements, and, they are quite comfortable. The one thing I hope the Moka House changes is their sandwiches. They are quite tasty, but, they are made in-advance and wrapped in plastic. I hope there is a way that the Moka House can start making sandwiches-to-order. Nevertheless, I will continue to eat the sandwiches they serve now if they can’t make sandwiches-to-order.I consider the Moka House located in the Cook Street Village to be a jewel of a coffee house, and, I have no doubt that I will be a regular customer of it for many years to come.
Why is this place always busy?. Place needs a overhaul: espresso is poor, food is bad, and the place is unattractively decorated and looks dated and worn down. Have never had a pleasant experience here. Bubby’s kitchen next door makes much better espresso.
