Baristas were friendly and our drinks were good (hot chocolates, London fog, chai tea latte). We were happy that there was a place to go to after dinner on a Sunday night that was open until late (11pm) – that’s rare for Victoria! I can’t wait until their renovations are complete because the furnishings and overall decor of the place is beyond its years. I’m glad that it’s still aroumd though, as its had a staple presence in Cook St village for as long as I can remember.
I was at Moka House this morning for a meeting. While my tea was fine, the sitting area was filthy – nobody had moved the furniture to clean behind it, and the baseboard heaters were covered in dust and crumbs. To top it off, the artwork on the walls was alive with fruit flies. I won’t be returning.
Do not support this business.. Every time I go in to Moka House I see a completely new staff the reason I used to like it was not because of the coffee, because it is truly terrible, but because the staff were usually friendly and it was nice to get to know them. Now the turn over rate is so high I see a new face every visit and I was speaking with an employee about how they have had more than 5 managers in the past year. That has got to mean the owners are not treating their employers fairly. I highly recommend skipping the Moka House in Cook Street because as nice as it is supporting local businesses you don’t want to support the owners who only seem to care about making money…
