Good service good coffee. Always friendly and they make yummy almond milk lattes! As for the guy who called in to make a suggestion….really….man you need to settle down and dont be so petty, chill out. The person on the phone has better things to do (like serve customers) than listen to your rants and raves. The fact that you kept pressing why even after she explained to you that its a franchise thing shows that you are still a small child. What are you too lazy to go inside and see prices…Instead of insinuating that you will tell tourists to go to different coffee shops maybe you should take a look at how ridiculous your post is. You even put your name, now everyone know who this childish guy is…akward for you. Also next time you want to make a suggestion at any store, cafe, restaurant you should talk to the manager or owner, not people that work there.
Mmmm latte. Get a great looking/tasting latte each time we visit.
Serious on Cook. Often stop off for a latte when in Cook Street Village. Kevin and Sydney make you feel welcome and you can usually find a table to relax and have a decent latte.
Agree with Smitty. I’ve been to the cook street serious coffee a few times over the last 2 years and have never been as insulted as I was yesterday. My boyfriend decided to buy me a coffee. Why? Well mainly because it was a nice gesture. But apparently this warranted a sexist mouthpiece response from one of the male baristas that I only keep him around for his wallet, and watch out that I don’t spend all of his money, among other remarks. For a $2 coffee. The helicopter management experience that Smitty mentioned couldn’t be truer, and creates a tense and unwelcoming atmosphere.
Underrated greatness. I have gone to serious for years now and Kevin and Sydney are now nothing short of family (and no, I don’t work for them lol). It is a great place for artists of all kinds, musical, visual and writers like myself. I do have an extensive background as a barista and what I love about these folks is the quality of drip coffee, hand tamped shots and latte art but without the usual pretention. Foods good too! In two blocks of ten places to grab your brew, Serious stands tall!
Great space, overly attentive owners. I’ve been to Cook St Serious Coffee with friends a few times, good coffee. The helicopter owners can really kill the buzz, I gotta say. Like having someone’s disapproving parents looking over your shoulder. Too bad, nice location.
Nice place to relax and unwind. I regularly go to this location of Serious Coffee on a weekly basis (Fridays) with some friends, and find the service to be consistently good and attentive, and the coffee/chai/tea to be welcome after a stressful work week. There is a mix of comfy chairs, ottomans and wood chairs, and frequently there is a live band, or music streaming in the background. It’s a smaller space, so if the band brings an amp, it can be a bit overpowering. The website has an event calendar so you can check out who is scheduled to play that night.Since I’m usually here after work, I’d prefer to have more non-wheat options to eat for dinner. I have had the paninis, but they are usually sold out by the time I stop by.Sometimes the soup is good – roasted red pepper, butternut squash, chowder; sometimes not, beef stew -a bit salty. Favorites in our group are the brownies and the lemon bar. Service can be slow if there are only two people working, and one is on a break; or if two people are working, but one is taking orders and the other making drinks if there is a line. Overall, I like the location, drink selection, and service. It’s a nice place to unwind.
