Fresh bread, crusty flaky croissants… it’s like I’m in Paris again. It’s a go-to for all my bread needs whenever I’m at Granville Island. Try it, you won’t be disappointed. everythingbutweddings.ca
Get their pane au chocolat. You won’t be disappointed it’s definitely good. I devoured it too fast to take a photo — sorry guys but what would make it better is if they used Belgium chocolate or dark chocolate for the inside.
The Better Than Sex Brownie. Imagine if you will, a mystical lair of candles, faux-fur bear rugs, a roaring fire and the drifting sent of lavender. Your S.O. or imaginary lover, beckoning you to join for a tasty treat of succulent chocolate delight. That is their brownie.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE – DISGUSTING FOOD QUALITY. I live in Granville Island, I am no stranger of this place. I’ve been many times and this review is not based on one negative experience. I have tried to give this place many chances but it has failed to prove its worth. The customer service (NOT the employees, but the owner) is horrible. How can somebody so inconsistent and careless run a successful business? Kudos to you for that. I have had multiple problems with this place, from stale bread to inedible pastries. The one that bothered me the most was the mold in my sandwich. YES, MOLD. I purchased 3 sandwiches from here and took them home. I took a bite and thought it tasted kinda funky. Looked inside and there was green mold. I looked in the other two, and one was fine but the other one contained mold as well. To pay $10 per sandwich and have them moldy was disgusting and obviously an issue that needed to be addressed. I looked up the customer service phone number, got ahold of a manager and she was kind and helpful but said I would have to talk to the owner. Finally the owner got ahold of me and after viewing the photo I sent over of the sandwich, she insisted it was just pesto. No lady, its not pesto, considering pesto was not supposed to be in the sandwich. She was trying to save her ass. Long story short, through several emails this issue did not get resolved. She was horrible in her email responses, and took forever to reply. Her conclusion, a month later, was to bring my receipt with the items and I could get a refund. Hello, are you a doorknob? Do you really expect me to keep my moldy sandwich AND the receipt a month later in order to exchange the product? I sent her an email back saying I obviously didn’t keep the product, and don’t have the receipt. No response. Typical. Never will I go to this place again, and never will I recommend it. The stories that I have heard about the owner through past employees are disgusting. I suggest you not bother with this place, there are so many other great alternatives in the area.
Great cookies. Had a butter chocolate chunk cookie, ginger cookies, and a chocolate brownie. The chocolate chunk cookie was superb. The ginger cookie puts the chain bought variety to shame! The brownie was lots of chocolaty goodness. Great for an afternoon snack or for after dinner.
Too good to feed to goats. The first time I ever saw loaves from A Bread Affair, goats were eating them. I was touring an organic goat cheese maker near Bread Affair’s home base in Abbotsford. Tthey bought Affair’s leftover loaves to feed to the flock. Organic bread keeps the milk certified organic, natch! Those loaves looked good going down the goats’ gullets, so I bought some from Bread Affair’s HQ and have been doting on them like a goat ever since. When I have a choice — and I often do, because the Choices Market near me sells both kinds — I’ll buy Bread Affair products over Terra’s any day. And I like Terra. There’s a Terra stall close enough to this one so you could hurl buns back and forth between them in a food fight. I hope they have a price war on Granville Island to try and steal business from each other, like so many side-by-side pizza slice places do. Because that’s my one gripe against Bread Affair — they’re pricey, like the $9 blueberry/hazelnut loaf. Sure is good, though. I wish I could have as much Bread Affair stuff as those organigoats.
