Disappointed. I’ve been here numerous times over the past 15 years. Unfortunately, what used to be a great place for sushi all those years ago (before Vancouver had a sushi joint on every 2nd corner), has become a shadow of it’s former self. The interior is rundown, the staff is rushed (even on dead days) and indifferent and the quality of the food has hit the floor (maybe the actual food has too?)…My daughter and I ate here this past Saturday (it had been over a year since our last trip), and decided this WAS our last trip there. Yuck. The only saving grace was the Salmon Kama. This was delectable, if not a pretty presentation (trust me, it wasn’t). The food took forever (even though only 2 other tables were occupied – by 2 people each) and it was mediocre at best. I should have gone with my gut (and cravings!) and headed to the Edge for a Panini, or to the hotdog vendor in front of Toys R Us. Really. Save yourself, eat elsewhere.
Terrible. I can understand that Minato may be a regular spot for VGH employees looking for a quick sushi fix, but for everyone else that has a choice to go elsewhere, do so. The restaurant is dilapidated, the service is indifferent, and the food is terrible. The sashimi is not fresh, the rolls taste off, and the prawn tempura is stale and heavily-battered. Minato will not survive in such a city of fine Japanese food offerings.
This restaurant defines the difference between a chinese run sushi restaurant and one run by japanese. The sushi is too big, u might feel like ur getting good value, but the quality is non existant. Ordered the dinner special for 2, the rolls were disgusting, and we couldnt finish half of it. Also got the wild salmon sashimi, again was just ok, have had much better for cheaper… U can get chinese beer here for $2.50 a bottle tho…

Good For Lunch. This place is good for take-out lunch. Love the bento boxes.
Convenient But Uninspired. An easy to find location, but horrific parking due to the small pay lot in front – not surprising for W Broadway. Assorted nigiri was sub-par, with many pieces looking like they were cut from the very last remnants of the fish. I won’t be going back…
