The service here was really bad. However the food was good. I was after all drawn to this place because it is known for the robot which cuts your noodles. Unlucky for me, the robot took the evening off (out of order, haha). The chow mein was crispy and soft and saucy in all the right places. Nice rich goey gravy and fresh vegetables. Maybe I’ll come back one more time when Mr. Roboto is back in action!

Because Peaceful Restaurant was too crowded at dinner, I decided to eat here. It was empty with about two other tables occupied. The server offered me a nice hot cup of green tea and recommended me to try their diced chicken with hot peppers & peanuts because it was more saucy. I gladly obliged and asked for a small bowl of steamed rice to go with it. My food arrived in 15 minutes, which really impressed me.This dish, in particular, was very delicious and mildly spicy. The peanuts were coated perfectly with their Szechuan sauce and gave a perfect crunch with the chicken morsels.I couldn’t eat all because the quantity was very big. I parceled the remaining home. I will come back to eat here again and try something different on their menu. I would definitely recommend this place for those wanting to have some spicy Chinese cuisine.

Great Spicy Food. They cook great spicy food from the province of Szechuan in China. If you like northern Chinese food like in Beijing, then you will like this restaurant. It is a small family run restaurant on Broadway and Cambie Street in Vancouver near the Broadway City Hall Canada-Line Station in Vancouver. Good service and friendly staff. The prices are fair.

Sze-Chuan Province in China Type Food That Taste Very Good Like If You Were In Sze-Chuan Province in China. You cannot go to any other Chinese restaurant in Metro-Vancouver or Lower Mainland that taste any better than this Old Ginger Sze-Chuan Chinese restaurant. The food reminded me when I was in Chongching City in the Province of Sze-Chuan in China. Sze-Chuan food can be very spicy and very hot. Some places in China like Sze-Chuan Province, the people sometimes cooks the food that is very hot for a oversea Chinese people. I love hot and spicy food and this place cooks it just hot enough for me and some food can have too much spices and chili peppers. You just have to tell them that you want it very mild if you do not like a spoon full of meat and hot chili peppers. The food come out fresh and fast. The service is very good and friendly services. Most of the people who eat there are Mandarin-Chinese speaking meaning that they are from Sze-Chuan area or north of the Yang-Sze River in China. The food can be $10,00 dollars plus per plate. For some people it might be expense, but you get large amount of food. This place is not fast food like the mall food court. You get what you pay for.

Amazing every time!. Old Ginger is one of my favourite restaurants in the lower mainland, no question. Every single thing I’ve ordered has been absolutely fantastic. And as an avid spice-lover, I start salivating just at the thought of their spicy dishes. I’ve dined in and done take-out many times, both are fantastic options. There really isn’t much more to say other than stop reading this and go here as soon as you possibly can.

Extremely underrated restaurant. Avoid Peaceful and go here!. I’ve been to both Peaceful Noodle Restaurants (broadway and 4th) and I still prefer Old Ginger. The lunch specials have huge portions and can be paired up with really cheap dumpling/starchy dishes for something like $11.00. Don’t be put off by the noodle robot. The noodles are really chewy and have a nice consistency. Their beef noodles (even though the restaurant is not taiwanese) is WAAAAY better than Peaceful. Other good stuff includes their extremely affordable peking duck ($15 for half + a bunch of crepes), xiao long baos, and their spicy fish. Avoid the line-up down the block and give this place a try at least for a lunch special.
