There are lots of restaurants in our neighbourhood, but Salmon n Bannock stands out for its unique menu, and its excellent quality of food, and excellent friendly service. We were lucky to find eulachons and roe-on-kelp on the menu as appys, and we really enjoyed the generous portions of venison sausages with wild rice pilaf. Their What the Foch house wine was a good match and a pleasant surprise, as we dont see that grape often. Keep up the good work, folks!
We recently ate at Salmon and Bannock’s Dine Out Vancouver restaurant and were disappointed. The restaurant is very small with tables jammed together so that it was hard to hear over the noise of other customers. I expected better food for the $40 fixed menu price with very few choices. Instead I got overcooked fish and the rest of the food was just average. Save your money and go somewhere else.

finally i got to have a chance to eat at this bookmarked restaurant for ages. a new cuisine or type of cuisine always makes me curious on how they use their seasoning and make it something that the people enjoy and make it a staple food in their community. so then came in, the place is rather small, went here during the dine out so had to make reservation.so far for the food in the menu for the dine out i chose the wilder side, so ate all the game meat, buffalo, deer, etc, and to tell you the truth, the meat in combination with cherries is quite delightful actually and depending if you love the taste of game meat, i think this will be your favourite spot. but for it was okay.another thing is the bannock, which is like a bread, is awesome. no doubt, the fullness of the bread in general, the firmness of the bannock on the outside and the texture of crumbling baked goods inside is plain awesome so then will not doubt about it. it’s definitely good but such a distinct restaurant, the price is definitely in the upper range as well. but i’s definitely worth to try and see for yourself if it’s your preference. mangkr.wordpress.com
The atmosphere in this eatery was incredible spacious seating, relaxing background music, local artwork on the walls, and courteous owners!Looking at the menu, you may see ingredients that may be considered exotic: elk, bison, and boar?!Appetizer (special of the evening): Bison bone marrow ($8.99):I call this a fancy pate. The marrow packed a lot of beefy flavour, and it had just the right of fat/grease in it. It was also perfectly seasoned with coarse salt. In terms of portion size, it was on the small side, but I dont think this is something you should overindulge. Anyway, this was a great dish to get your appetite going.Entree #1: Salmon Burger ($17)Sweet potato wedges with chipotle mayo *Drools*No no, they dont use minced salmon patties here. Instead their burger comes with a whole, 6 oz wild sockeye fillet! This had got to be one of the tastiest salmon weve had recently. It had a nice smokey, sage flavour, and the fish was incredibly moist. Sweet potato wedges (with a chipotle mayo dip) was an excellent pairing as well.Entree #2: Game meatloaf ($22)For the meatloaf, you may choose elk, bison, or board. We chose elk because it sounded the most unique. To be honest, it tasted a lot like beef, but leaner. I guess thats the par of the course. The gravy was tasty, and you would mop that up with the bannock in no time!Food: 4.5/5Value: 4/5Service: 4.5/5Ambiance: 4.5/5
Simply wonderful. Best Salmon burger I have ever had. Quick service, attentive staff. Small, lovely art. There menu is split into more expensive items (26-40) and less expensive ones around $17. But everything was great. We really enjoyed the appetizer sampler platters, not the best value for what you get but tasty and fun to assemble.
By far the best experience in cuisine I have had in a long time. The ambience was perfect. The service was perfect. The wine, the bannock, even the salad dressing was perfect. The food was through the roof. Every morsel was a tantalizing experience. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for something unique. The best way to describe my experience was to say that it didn’t feel like I went to a restaurant and was served a meal. It felt like I was at someone’s house as a guest.
