Poor decor but great selection of noodles. Came in for dinner one cold winters night. Tried the dumplings – xiao long bao. Comes out on a big silver steamer basket & smells gorgeous! Inside each morsel is filled with gingery ground pork. The Curry fried dragging noodles with lamb has a kick. Lamb was flavoursome but dish was over loaded with barely cooked onions. Note to all- they arent shy on their serves! The stewed noodles in soup were thick cut & large. Can be a little gummy. They also have a range of dim sum selections available at dinner too!My recommendation- try the dragging noodles, its soft & hold its own on a dish.
it’s a cold and nippy day in Vancouver i decided to grab a nice warm meal i ordered the Hot & Sour Soup and the Nutritious Noodle with Lamb and Vegetables in soup, after trying (Banana Leaf and Peaceful Restaurant) the Hot & Sour Sour here is the best OMFG!!! it’s freakin delicious the best of the best with honour it’s got a good spicy kick the Noodle with Lamb is a very hearty meal the bowl was packed with wholesome goodness. i would highly recommend this place don’t forget to bring your appetite
Ive been wanting to try out this place. I’m glad we did. I believe it used to be a pub at one point. The interior smelled old and musty. Once our beef cut noodles and spicy green bean arrived..they were so tasty it was a great distraction. The Shao Lin beef roll was a bit on the salty side and the plate was ice cold. But the biggest disappointment was when the server put the the Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings on the table. I said OMG for $7.95 why are they FLAT? WHERES THE SOUP????.. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!! Refer to our pics…it was served last too.
Best noodles I’ve ever had!! I could smell the spiciness of the noodles as it was coming to my table which had me over the roof. That first bite had me up in the clouds.. Smooth on the outside, chewy on the inside. Waaaay too good. Def recommended
One of my most favourite noodle places. Spicy cutting noodles and green onion pancake. So damn good. Although i tend to stick with what I know, I love it. Go there if you can.
The beef rolls, pork dumplings, hot and sour potatoes, and chicken cutting noodles are always delicious. They always have us coming back for more.
Shaolin Noodle House is located in an extremely convenient location for me and so I’ve recently come here for lunch on 3 separate occasions. The 1st time, I ordered the Shaolin Specialty Fried Cutting Noodles (N01), which I noted to be rather plain in flavour. Moreover, even though I never had fried cutting noodles before, I could tell it was cut extremely poorly – the noodles were so unevenly cut through their length to the point that the sauce could not penetrate some parts of the noodles and I literally chewed on tasteless doughy noodles. The 2nd and 3rd time I came here I also got the Shaolin Specialty (N01) but with the dragging noodles instead. The dragging noodles were substantially better, however I realized how inconsistent their sauce for this dish was… the 2nd time I came the dish was perfectly balanced between salty, savoury, and sweet and had a nice aroma (good wok-hei from proper stir-frying and they also added garlic this time). On my 3rd visit, however, the dish was so salty I considered not finishing the entire thing to spare my tastebuds – major disappointment. Food aside, each time the service has been very polite – the waiters ensured my water was topped off but gave me space to enjoy my meal in privacy. Unfortunately, the decor is rather out-dated and the seating is not very comfortable. I also find it odd that they have their set-up station for new plates right in the middle of the restaurant and it’s unfortunate for the diners that end up seated around there. OVERALL: Each time has been hit or miss; very inconsistent food. thevsign.com
