Tried them for the lunch special. Prices are reasonable. Hot and sour soup one of the better ones we have had. Diced chicken with cashews, chicken steamed and lacked flavour. Beef and orange peel was dry not tender. Portions in line with prices for a lunch menu. Good selection. Worth a try.
Came here on a cold weeknight winter eve. Not too busy. My food arrived in 10 mins. But the orange beef was terrible: overlooked, dry and no orange peel… just a ton of sugar. False advertising. The schezuan beans were great if you like spicy.
I just ordered take out from Szechuan Chili tonight on lazy meal and OMFG it’s amazing!!! So flavorful, SO fresh! I find that most Chinese food in general just takes like a lot of salt, but north is place! I got the almond chicken, Szechuan beans, and chicken chow mein and its all f*#%ing fantastic!!! I am so picky, do trust me when I say my review means something!
Good but average Chinese food- solid and tasty but nothing really stands out as amazing Chinese food. I really like the rice in lotus leaves.More often than not we get take out and they are very quick to get it ready to pick up.
BUGS BUGS BUGS!!! Well to start with there are 1000’s of ants behind the wainscoting on the wall between the dinning area and kitchen. I sat there only to have to move as they crawled from the wall onto our table. I used to like the food here a lot. It seems to be slowly getting worse. The ambiance of the restaurant is pathetic to say the least. Really shows how they are not creating anything but a fast food outlet.
Good ol stand-by. Occasionally, this CBC likes to sit in a chinese restaurant and enjoy decent food without being disregarded by the servers for her poor Cantonese skills and non-Asian companion. Among the few places in Vancouver that provide this, Szechuan Chili rates high. The food is tasty, clean and non-greasy. The prices are good, the servers are very nice, and there is always parking. I ordered delivery once and the delivery person was SO appreciative of the tip (I’m generous – its still less $ and time than driving a Car2Go to get there). Their dishes are not unlike other chinese restaurants, but they do have some nice spicy vegetarian choices. Once again, it’s because the food is CLEAN and the service is FRIENDLY that makes me return each time. My faves are the wonton, ginger beef, and house chow mein. Yum I can’t wait to go back to try the other reviewers’ recommendations!
I would highly reccomend the ginger beef and the spicy eggplant. The chef really knows how to use gas.
