This is our go-to neighborhood sushi place. Consistently great food, and they have the best customer service! They also do sushi with black rice, which is awesome and pretty rare. They know my entire family by voice over the phone, and they even know our typical orders. It is not a cheap sushi place, but the quality of food is quite a bit higher than your average sushi restaurant.
CONSISTENTLY GREAT FOOD BUT I NEED WATER.. I used to live 2 blocks from this place and I think it’s the only reason I discovered it. The food is always amazing. I’m a big Toro sashimi fan and it tastes great here. My only gripe is that they need to have 2 servers working sometimes. Something as simple as a glass of water takes a bit of time here. So I sympathize with the servers because when it’s busy and she’s the only one she may forget about it but nevertheless it’s her job to remember. Better yet, they should learn what most restaurants do and just offer water without asking. Seems like common sense to me. Anyway I could go on because they’re not the only ones that lack in this area. I’ll finish by saying I’ve never had an issue with their food, it’s a cute little location OH and they always give me free little appetizers even if I’m just picking up for take out!! Just bring your own water.
Simple neighborhood sushi joint. The staff are all uber friendly, prices decent and the food is tasty. So glad I found this gem in Fairview. Great for dine in or take out.
This place is a #FAIL. I went here today based on the reviews and had the worst experience in my life. Not only were my black rice sushi rolls not edible , they gave me a complimentary fish ball with shrimp in it and didn’t tell me. I thought it was my potato croquette so I ate it. I am a vegetarian!!! I spoke to the owner and they didn’t even take anything off the bill. I will never go there again
Good Neighbourhood Spot. We stumbled into this place for take-out one night. It was cute inside so we decided to stick around to eat. The staff were all super friendly and attentive. Since then, we have ordered some dine-in from them about 5 times. The prices are decent and the sushi is yummy. If you are looking for a simple, neighbourhood sushi joint then give Yanaki a try.
Good Flavour, not so well prepared. Grabbed some take out from Yanaki on 6th expecting the absolute best sushi ever… The flavour was quite good. However, the brown rice we paid extra for was maybe half cooked. The sockeye salmon came in short a piece (supposed to get 9 pcs, not 8) and 2 of which we received were half the size of the others. I know they aren’t going to be perfectly uniform, but adjust thickness if they are that different (2 pcs made up a single of the others). Also, this is the first time we received fully cooked tuna tataki. Hmmm… We may try it again, but we’ll dine in so we can take care of it on the spot.
Very friendly service, they always greet and thank customers from behind the sushi bar. Sometimes they would offer people appetizer samples while they wait for the takeout.The food there is fresh and delicious!
