Food tasted good but was absolutely cold on arrival. Goat quorma portion was tiny for 12.95, half the size of a 8.95 dish of chicken tikka masala and swimming in oil — it had to be a mistake? First Indian place we’ve tried in Surrey … very disappointing. Total meal cost was 48 dollars on delivery. Crazy. Used Skip the Dishes and the courier only had two loonies in change … so he ended up with an almost 30 percent tip for a cold meal that took an hour and fifteen minutes to arrive. Would not use the service again.

Just came home from having dinner at Gulberg on Fraser Hwy and 160. My god what a horrible experience, feeling sick. The waiter was very nice but vegetarian she told us after we had ordered our food. I had asked her for chicken breast in my chicken dish she told the chefs, but they still send me boneless thighs( this was my second order), returned the first dish. I dont mind chicken thighs but should be fresh i could hardly separate it with a fork, if you are paying for food should be good quality. We paid $24.00 for 1 garlic naan and one regular naan. Won’t go back again!!!!!!

It has to be your lucky day!In 2013-2014 when I was in Vancouver for nearly an year for an office assignment I visited Gulberg around 3-4 times. I loved what was on offer in my first visit, an all you can eat buffet lunch on a Saturday for about 14$ which was a real steal considering it had Tandoori chicken, mutton curry, Paneer tikka masaala, onion and potato pakodas, mix veg curry and my all time favourite chicken Biryani. When you consider the Biryani alone can cost atleast 10$ on an average at competing restaurants it was indeed a very good deal to find a quality Biryani in a buffet like this. Now coming to the luck part of it, I could have rated them atleast 4.5 based on a couple of encounters however based on another couple of outings it would be difficult to even rate them average as the preparations were so ordinary. So its like rotating a wheel of Fortune, if you’re lucky enough when you visit you might have a very good time and at other times it may turn out to be an average experience. In a nutshell the quality is not consistent here but it’s worth taking a risk and giving it a shot by all means atleast once. The Ambience is fairly Ok and the service is workable most of the times. It’s basically a Pakistani restaurant with almost all of them being of Pakistani descent including the cooking staff and it really surprises me that not once I felt that I am eating anything different from the Indian food I usually eat. This is to underline that Indian and Pakistani food is so similar in taste and preparation especially the Non vegetarian items.A number of times I saw their Arab speaking Patrons enjoying the same food fare which just shows that the Indian/Pakistani food is famous and loved by all if prepared the right way. A lot of times I see people completely washing down the food with hardly any spices to suit the local taste but then it gives rise to a serious identity crisis where the food authenticity goes completely out of the window! In Gulberg you won’t exactly find a typical spicy Indian Style food but you can take comfort from the fact that it does have spices, a little on the milder side but the preparation is more or less fairly authentic. biryani-master.blog

It was alright.. March 13, 2014An hour ago, I just had the buffet lunch for $10.45 after tax and the food was alright. The garlic fish sprinkled with fresh lemon (you have to do this yourself) was tasty. The crispy pappers were crunchy. The Tandoori chicken was just like in any other restaurant. There were the standards butter chicken, paneer, pakora and naam (a tad overwarmed) and a white ball dessert (so so).Service was friendly especially Iya – lovely host.

Disappointing to see the quality of this restaurant has gone down. I’ve been visiting this restaurant for the last 5 years for their buffet menu and the regular menu. The food and the service were exceptional back in the day, until few recent years. The buffet rice is very dry and their re-load time on the food is very slow. Regardless of that few weeks back we went to their regular dinner menu. We ordered Biryani and a lamb curry. Instead of the lamb meat they gave us a giant BONE with fat around it and the Biryani plate was full of salad instead of the rice. We told the waitress about this, when she told the manager all we heard the manager was screaming at her from the kitchen. She couldn’t do any thing about the situation. We only felt bad for the waitress at the time, so we paid and left. I will never recommend this restaurant to any one. Hence I will never come to this restaurant ever again. Very disappointed!!!!!!!!!!

Nice buffet variety. Tried this location one day, I usually go to the other Gulberg restaurant in Newton. Much better decor than the other location, also loved the buffet concept. Nice variety of meat dishes and vegetarian food. I would bring my family and friends here for dinner anytime. Naan was taking a bit long to refill but the restaurant was very busy I guess that’s why. Also its good because fresh food is being refilled!

Worst first time visit to this restaurent. Went there with family to try their food for the first time since it is pretty close to where we live. Our first impression wasn’t fantastic since the place wasn’t very clean and there weren’t many customers. We tried their butter chicken, curry lamb, and beef haleem. The food came together in a timely fashion although we were surprised as the food didn’t have the aroma of the normal Indian food or any other food for that matter. Tried the butter chicken and was very disappointed at the taste. The chicken wasn’t cooked properly and the flavour was below expectation. Next the curry lamb had a very weird flavour and the lamb was not chew-able nor was it even lamb. Have no idea what meat was used in that dish. Finally the beef haleem was very aweful that I could not swallow it. Discussed this situation with the management and no matter how many times we told them the food was awful and disappointing ..they kept referring to customers who come all way the from north van for their butter chicken. As if our opinion was not true and we were lying….The only great this was their naan, so I would go there and eat their naan again and that all.
