I went to Rokko for lunch with my wife and son. We ordered lunch box with beef and California roll, lunch box with teriyaki chicken and California roll and chicken yaki soba. The food came pretty quickly because we were the only customers in the restaurant. The portion for all the food was very small when compared to other Japanese restaurant in Surrey and the taste was terrible. The California roll was not like any California roll I had with other restaurant. It was dry and no taste at all. There was no vinegar taste in the sushi rice for the roll and the tempura was 1/3 the size other restaurant. The chicken yaki soba was not Japanese soba noodles they used for the dish. It was some cheap Chinese dry noodles that you could get for a dollar in the supermarket. The chicken was horrible. The taste told me that the chicken had been over freezing in the fridge for a very long time. It could give me food poisoning so I sent the dish back. All the previous reviews for this restaurant were misleading. I will never go back again.
If you come here, order the box A! I usually get it because it has a good variety of food, and it is very worth the price. The food comes out quickly and the staff is friendly as well. I would highly recommend!
This is a great restaurant. The food is delicious, and the prices are affordable. The food comes out fairly quickly. I tried the small C, and I really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend to friends.
Food was delicious and service was very good! All of the staff members were very friendly and welcoming. The food came out very fast and was presented very nicely.
It’s an ok restaurant, but not the best sushi place I’ve been too. It’s not always busy so don’t worthy about it. Parking is always available, they accept cash, credit, debit etc. But it’s an overall ok restaurant.
now before I get any comments saying I don’t know what I’m talking about, I’ve been coming here since they opened up nearly 23 years ago from the time of this post. In that time I’ve had only 1 time when I got food poisoning from them, but these past couple of times has been off. the noodles, rice, miso soup, and tempura were good, but the tempura could be cooked for a little longer, but if you get it to go then yeah it’ll be a little soggy by the time you get it home so that’s not too bad. my complaint is actually about the chicken, I normally eat the Large C, I’ve had it now for going on 20 years now, I used to always get the Large B but the tempura was calling my name, anyway back to the review. these last 2 or 3 times now the chicken has tasted off, almost like they let it sit outside for a few days then cook it up almost, I’m sorry to say that because I’ve pretty much grown up with these people, they’ve always been nice and up until now the food has been great, but if they don’t fix it then I’ll unfortunately not be going back there and that’s hard for me to say because this is the only place I’ve actually been able to find Yakitori, usually it’s awesome but these past few times they haven’t been that good, namely because it’s made with chicken.
