My 10 year old son went in to buy a smoothie today. I was close by on Wendel’s patio. He bought a berry blast smoothie and did not like it. He tried to ask for an exchange and the young woman serving the drinks said it is against store policy to take returns on food items. I was shocked that this establishment would have such a policy in place – if you don’t enjoy the product, they don’t care? Very poor customer service. I went in to ask for clarification on the return policy. The first lady I talked with was lovely and tried to offer help such as adding honey to sweeten it. Then the other woman who served my son interrupted our conversation to assert her opinion on my parenting decision to let my ten year old come in by himself to order a smoothie. I stated that I was right outside and that at ten years old, my son deserves a bit of independence. I said that I was not in there for her to question my parenting decisions, but to question the return policy and try to get something my son would enjoy. After all, the drink was $6.50 after taxes. She was rude, insulting, and wanted to continue arguing. I shared that we would never return. This place won’t be in business long if they don’t care about consumer satisfaction with their product. The manager should be very concerned about his employee’s behaviour. It was quite despicable and should not be tolerated. She made a snap judgement and did not care to make the situation right. No worries, there’s always Booster Juice!
