Came in on a hot summer day hoping for some yummy food. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder, the large halibut plate and an extra piece of cod. Chowder was rich and flavourful but I only got a couple tiny pieces of clam. Veggies were yummy and crisp (how do they do that in a soup?!). Not sure that was worth $4.70. But then the plate of fish came. A ginormous piece. Two ginormous pieces, actually. My photo doesn’t do it justice (I received a second plate with another piece of fish about the same size as what’s pictured). Also came with a mountain of chips. The fries were delicious… good potato flavour and just crisp enough. The fish was awesome; beautifully flavoured. I kind of liked that the batter was a bit bland… it allowed me to really taste the fish. Add a few drops of malt vinegar (on the table) and you’ve got a perfect bite. I barely got through the two pieces of fish and made a small dent in the fries. You can’t beat the price: All of that food for $30 including tax. Ridiculously good. Service was prompt and friendly. My one real complaint: it was hotter than heck inside the restaurant. Once I got eating, I was a mess of sweat. Not a lot of air conditioning (there’s a few ceiling fans to move the air around) and in hindsight, I should’ve sat outside in the sun and breeze. Would definitely come here again and sit on the deck.
Good Fish n Chips. So the prices are good, lots of traditional British fare to choose from. I had the 6oz halibut and chips. the fish was very good as was the tartar sauce, you get a ton of fries with it which are also good. I added a side of coleslaw, it had a very overwhelming taste of mayo, recipe should get changed up a bit.

Your traditional English fish & chips shop. Great fries big piece of fish for the price steak pie was more steak than pie. More great fries. They make desert pies and English meat pies and more to take home as well. A good 40 buck dinner for two with tip.
I had wigan pier fish and chips for take out the other week because a friend was raving about how friggin amazing their fish n chips are. So the verdict…Decore: Quaint and visually stimulating. Lots of old photos, signs and antiques on the walls. Very warm and cozy. Busy but not cluttered. Clean lines, nice red green and white color scheme. The smell of the deep fat fryers warmed my nostrils. Just add a few spirited red-beards adorned with kilts and you’ll feel like you’ve landed in Scotland. 😀 Food: All of their food can be bought frozen. This makes me think that maybe the food is not made fresh in house. Nonetheless, the fish and chips I ordered were crunchy and quenched my momentary craving for oily, savory food. and the poutine! Amazingly cheesy, gooey salty crunchy chips. Made with gravy that tastes like my grandmas coveted home made blend. Service: quick and to the point. My order was taken and ready within 10 minutes. I was greeted by a young blonde fellow with a note pad. He was friendly enough, but I would have loved it if he smiled more. The man who handed me my food was generous with the condiments and friendly indeed. Overall review: a great laid back food joint for those cold nights of beer and comfort food cravings.
