Come here for authentic, homestyle cooking. I lived in Gibsons for almost a year and I came here every week as they serve the absolute best Thai food (with no MSG). Service: The owner and chef is a Thai lady who grew up in Bangkok, then came to Canada and worked at multiple restaurants for years before deciding to start her own right in Gibsons. Herbert, her co-owner, handles the customers. Hes a genuine fella whose joyful personality is just contagious. Both of them will make you feel right at home. Food: Firstly, I highly recommend the Pad Thai. If youve had Pad Thai in Thailand, you will love their version. Unlike many Thai restaurants around that use ketchup as a base sauce, Absolutely Thai makes their own tamarind sauce, giving the noodles a sweet, savoury (and slightly sour) taste. The noodles are fried perfectly and wont stick together. Its as authentic as it can get. Their other notable items are the DrunkenNoodles (no alcohol in there, just fragrant noodles flavoured with fresh holy basil leaves), Spring Rolls, and Yellow Curry. Oh, and when youre there, buy a little container of their homemade Peanut Sauce. I eat it with everything. Just add a little water and heat it up in the microwave oven. Price and Portions: Although the portions arent huge, they fill me up just right, especially the noodles. If youre a big eater, theres always the option to add extra noodles or rice for a small price. Price is reasonable, cheaper or about the same than most restaurants on the coast. Ambience:Take note that they are generally a takeout business so most of their regulars call and order at least an hour in advance, pick up their food at the stated timings, and eat in the comforts of their homes. If you plan to eat in, you can do so too. Just know that the restaurant seats a maximum of 12, so you might want to call in advance to make a reservation.

This place was amazing. Herbert is the host and is hilarious. His wife who is Thai is the cook. The food was very authentic, coming from a guy that went to university in Bangkok. I am coming back to this place every time I visit for work.

It’s closed! Too bad!. Food was good, if a little skimpy on the portions. Closed due to family illness, i think. AGB is in there now…another TOO BAD.
