Definitely not my favorite Kelowna has to offer. My friend and I had been meaning to try this place for awhile, but everything was just mediocre. The Cesar salad had barely any dressing or bacon bits and NO croutons. The club, tacos and bread sticks were just fine. The service was pretty good though. Just a strange menu and decor to be honest.
I came here with my wife and my parents for supper because of the gluten free menu. I have celiac disease and can’t tolerate any gluten in my diet. The waitress was rather uninformed of gluten free and uncaring. My meal consisted of the steak and goat cheese salad (from the gluten free menu) and a side of fries. The waitress asked the kitchen for us if the fries were gluten free and we were told that they use rice flour and a separate fryer so I would be safe. My meal was served and the waitress asked if I wanted a slice of GF bread instead of the regular garlic toast, so I said yes. The bread was served with garlic butter so it was essentially GF garlic bread. After a couple of hours I was back home and I was sicker than sick. I threw up everything I had eaten that night. I don’t know what item was the culprit here, maybe the fries or possibly cross contamination in the garlic butter. My wife sent an email to them the next day to let them know of this and they said next time I should ask for the chef and he would come and see us. I won’t be returning and I would urge you to exercise caution if you are considering going here for their gluten free.
Had lunch here with my four year old son yesterday. We were quite awed by the fish tank and enjoyed figuring out what the different varieties were within. Amongst many amazing Hawaiian fish the Humu humu nuku nuku apua’a was certainly the most exotic. Service was mediocre with no visible excuses for poor attentiveness. We were one one of four or five tables and observed three servers and a hostess on duty; so there was no reason for the delays in refills of my ginger ale. We both had burgers. My son’s was large and came as ordered with as side of fries. Though not large enough as he was able to polish it all off. $8 for a kids meal, not including his drink. Ouch. My burger was $16 and was accompanied by a skimpy amount of fries. The flavour was… Interesting. At times I found myself enjoying it but overall it left me disappointed. After drinks and tip my bill was over $32 for the two of us. Red Robins and Triple O’s both make much better burgers for much less money. Would I eat here again? The short answer is no. The long answer is that my kids and I love aquariums and unless there is somewhere else in Kelowna that boasts such an impressive array of aquatic splendours, we will be back to enjoy the fish, not the food.
