The cake was terrible. It was for a 50th birthday (very special opportunity); we went there because we had been referred and our normal baker (Fratelli’s) was away on holidays. We felt very disappointed in the cake and the service from staff and then the owner, afterward. It was bland, didn’t taste like chocolate. It tasted more like butter, salt and a little bit of coffee. When we complained they justified it by saying they use milk chocolate, not dark chocolate, butter has salt in it and asked us if we were Chinese (?)…said they hadn’t had a complaint in 41 years. So, apparently the take away is, if we were Chinese we would have been happy. We asked for our money back because we won’t go back and they said no.
I haven’t had a cake from Anna’s Cake House in a long time. I had it again today. It still tasted good and the quality has remained the same. The cake design looked the same many years ago. I liked the cake was not too sweet and it had mixed fruits on top and inside the layers. There are different Chinese bakeries such as St. Germaine’s Bakery, Maxim’s, and T&T’s in the market. Anna’s Cake House may consider providing more varieties or update the cake designs or presentations in order to keep up the business among these bakeries. Anna’s Cake House is a very traditional bakery to me.
I ordered a Mango mousse cake for my daughters 1 year old birthday last week. Today we celebrated her birthday at the Chinese restaurant in LansDowne mall. After the dinner, the waiter brought out the cake and it was a huge disappointment. The decoration on the cake was old fashion. But most importantly, the cake tasted horrible. Everyone said the cake tasted like more than a week old. The mousse was not very good and the cake part was dry and rough. We paid $75 for such a poor quality cake. This is my first and will be my last cake that I’ll ever buy from Anna’s. I do not recommend people to order cakes from Anna’s.

Best egg tarts and coconut tarts!. I prefer the crispy shell over the flaky shortening shell on the egg tarts and their egg is cooked just perfect with a smooth texture! you must try their coconut tarts too!
