Hands down the best hotpot restaurant in Richmond. Garden City Hotpot isn’t AYCE, you order what you want by the dish. This place is definitely on the pricier end but you will have great quality and taste. They serve offer you unlimited plum juice and/or chrysanthemum tea, you also get to pick your sauces. I recommend applying the TopGun Gold card which you can accumulate points and can be used as discount later on.

Used to have 40% discount when ordering before 11:00 a.m. but now just 20%. Getting bored and can’t give myself any excuse to go there for lunch frequently – there are so many competitors in Richmond.11 Aug, 2013Air Conditioning was too cold. This is the place I like most for Dim Sums. However, felt a bit disappointed at their air conditioning system. The food turned cold easily because of this. One of the waitresses told me that because they had hot pot at night, the air conditioner had to be turned to quite cold. So bad why they can’t adjust it in the morning hours. I have heard other people complaining about this also.Maybe I will have to change my habit of visiting this place – from Dim Sum lunch to Hot Pot dinner.01 Apr, 2013Nice Service. This uses to be one of my favorite food spots back when I was living in Richmond, but the age of the establishment, heavy competition from AYCE shops, and inflation has gotten the better of this place.For starters the place lost it once glory and its interior looks dated and dirty. Everything I touched, seats, tables and so on and so forth felt sticky and dirty. This is not condensation one would expect from a hot pot restaurant, but more of a grimy feel.Service was a little better than most Cantonese restaurants, they were attentive came and refilled drinks often, but a few of the server also had a very smug attitude. I was dinning with my mom and grandma and they are a little bit slower, due to their age, but to be very honest if you do not have patience to deal with seniors, you should not work in the service industry.Now the food itself was decent, nothing exceptional, but also nothing wrong. The problem is the portion size. When one pays $16 for a plate of fatty beefy you would expect to get more than 15 slices, $9 for veggies, a little more than a handful right? I ended up spend $130 for table of 3, left unsatisfied and even feeling a bit ripped off.Also be wary and check your bill. I recalculated again after getting home and they had overcharged me by around $9, but since I did not order anything of this price I figure they charged $3 per head for the complimentary drinks.
Went there for lunch today. Their sticky rice and duran pastry are tasteless.
Great Service. We went for Dim Sum. The menu had everything we were looking for except a bean curd roll which is a favourite. Really enjoyed the dumpling with chives and pork. The service was fast and friendly.
Excellent hot pot restaurant; Good service. Really like this hot pot restaurant. Parking is free in the attached parkade. We did not have reservations, but with only a 10 min wait, we were able to be seated (we were two people) at a shared big table (this had enough space between all the parties). Everything is a little more expensive, but this is worth it for the quality of the food, and the attentiveness of service. They spotted the white guy husband and promptly gave us the hot pot english menu too. Their garlic and spicy soup is amazing! They did not dial down the hotness and WGH really enjoyed the heat. We had the split soup -other side Tom Yum, with good sour balance. The geoduck was very fresh, and tong ho vegetables nutty in taste. Fatty beef slices and wonton were very flavorful. Finished off with egg noodles and sweet chrysanthemum tea. More than enough for two people! We also really love the special order single serving tea with the proper tea cups (with lids and separate rinse discard containers) and separate loose tea. This is a place that knows how to do tea correctly! Many of the servers speak English and I felt very comfortable despite my limited Cantonese. An easy place to get to, free parking, good service, and fresh food.
GCHP is a great place for Hot Pot. Their food is fresh and very tasty, however, they can also be quite pricey.. I’ve spent over $90 on two people before by getting some of the fresh seafood that they offer.
