Do not know why so many complaints From others, but I find this restaurant very good indeed. We go there virtually Every month, my Mother in law’s best favourite. Food taste good. Fried dough wrapped in steamed rice roll, prawn with rice cake. I do not like roast duck so I have no comment. But congee is very good! Service? Don’t expect 5 star restaurant services From a small local Chinese Restaurant. It is good enough to eat happily.
Congee galore at Kongee Dinesty! So many different kinds of congee to choose from and the portion size is really massive! I didnt even finish mine!
I came here before at lunch, but was unimpressed. I’ve been craving duck for a while now so we came back for dinner with friends because they told me the Peking duck here is tasty & reasonably priced ($45 for two courses). Our friend pre-ordered the duck when she made the reservation. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and clean. Lanterns and tea sets greet you as enter. Classier than the average Chinese restaurant. I enjoyed the dinner experience more as there wasn’t was a feeling of being rushed to eat and be pushed out the door. If you happen to come by for their lunch service (mostly congee as the name suggests), you will understand why. The crowds of their afternoon service is a go go go atmosphere. And it’s also extremely busy, even with a reservation. The duck was quite well done in my opinion. The skin, served with steamed crepe, was crispy and quite flavourful. The meat was diced, stir fried with veggies, and served with lettuce wrap. And for the price, you can’t beat it. The food quantity at the restaurant was quite good. We ordered a few other dishes and I was quite impressed, especially the oyster hot pot. None of the dishes were overly greasy or salty.
Were there a couple months ago and their food were reasonably priced and with decent quality. Went back this afternoon for a congee brunch and would say that I was a bit disappointed. The golden Prawns with salted eggyolk were tasteless, yet you can taste the baking soda they used on the Prawns. The beef congee was okay. The sweet Chinese donuts were supposed to be freshly made but they were hard as rock. Probably not going back again. 🙁
Food is ok. Service is so so. Price is above average for a bowl of congee. The location is isolated from popular convenient connection of traffic. Hope they can hang on for a while.
good service good food/ customizable Congee/ all dishes were good family friendly/ portions are big so better go with big groups re-wipe your dishes / bowls, they’re very dusty would I go back? Yes
This place has very reasonable prices for a decent breakfast. The service is prompt and fast. The only thing I noticed about servers is that it’s a hit or miss with some. There was a very very nice couple next to us that was very polite and their server was a monster… I had to speak up for them since the couple didn’t know how to speak Chinese. The rating was almost a 4 or higher but that one server was a mood killer. The Chinese donut roll was nice. The noodle is decent. The peanuts in the congee is my favorite. I definitely recommend the food here. This was a last minute stop and I must say, the food is comforting here.
