Recently went to both Matsuyama and Koto for their late night menus… and Koto was so much better. We had to wait slightly longer at Koto but it’s not really a big deal in my opinion. The food was better and fresher (e.g. the sashimi actually melts away in your mouth vs Matsuyama’s defrosted chunky sashimi). They also have more items to choose from in their late night menu. Service was also great (much friendlier than what we experienced in Matsuyama.)
Not bad for late night sushi. I really enjoyed the beef sukiyaki. Nicely seasoned and a little sweet. The black dragon roll was really good but my favourite is definitely their oyster motoyaki.
Heard that this place was good for late night, but actually ended up coming here for dinner at a normal time. We got there at 6, which is when they were supposed to open except I guess they weren’t ready and were still setting things up. So we ended up waiting outside for awhile, which was kind of annoying. Inside, it isn’t that big. But it does have a cozy feel to it. Their menu actually has quite a few things. We tried the chawanmushi, tako wasabi, beef tongue, chopped scallop roll, negitoro roll, ika nigiri, and the kimchi mentaiko udon. The tako wasabi was SUPER spicy. I’ve never had it so spicy, so no wonder they give you so many pieces of seaweed. It only needa a very small amount for each piece. The beef tongue tasted a bit different because it wasn’t a salty seasoning that I was used to but a bit sweeter. It was still good. The chawanmushi was my favourite. It was smooth and flavourful, just the way it should be. The rolls and nigiri were pretty normal. The rice for the sushi did taste a bit different from other places I’m used to. It had a sweeter taste, which wasn’t really a bad thing. It was just different. The mentaiko udon had lots of kimchi and was very red. I thought it was too much kimchi for my liking. Service here was pretty good, but also they weren’t very busy when we were there. I think this place has a good variety on their menu and I can see why people would come here. However, Richmond isn’t usually where I go so I don’t think this place is a place I need to go back to.
Favourite place for our late night post-workout food! Cheap after 9pm and the owner (we call her Auntie) is super friendly and accommodating! Literally been coming here maybe 3 days a week for the past 2 months. Favourite dish so far is the BBQ salmon belly or the Aburi salmon nigiri.
Been coming here for a couple of years now and the food is always fantastic and good… Lately the service has been lacking a lot. Wanted to get a table for 3, there were 2 people ahead of us still. We asked if we could sit at the bar, but the waitress said no Its been leaking. Thats fine whatever. Asked if we could sit at the corner table, and she asked us if we wanted to share with the other two who were waiting. They said no and we were fine waiting still. Then couple got sat at the bar… Confusing because the waitress told us that the bar was leaking. Well great now we can have thar big table at the corner. Lol sadly no we couldnt. She asked us if 3 people could squeeze into this tiny 2 person booth. We got sat down and shortly after twopeople came along and sat at that corner table.Lmao we had 3 people cramped up in a tiny booth. They had a big as table for 2. Terrible. I really didnt understand what was going through her mind. Asked for the bill, took forever. We probably waited 15 mins for the bill, and another 5 for them to bring the machine to our table. Lol.. Their service keeps going down and down. Think next time i’m going to be doing take out.Another thing, me and my friends were waiting and we were obviously the next ones to be seated. The head server let other people who had just came in sit down first before us.Lol talk about being rude…
Do not go to this restaurant if you want to have a good experience, this is by far the worst service i have received in my entire life, the old waitress just give you that attitude she does not want you there at all, you can feel that when you first go inside the restaurant, no one will seat you, you will stand at the door for at least 5 minutes for anyone to even look at you, and when you order food, only the old women will take orders, and again, she gives you a bad attitude for no reason. i felt like the people works there just simply do not want you to go to their restaurants.
