Although the Aburi Sushi was pretty good, the Assorted Sashimi was a joke -$24 for 10 small pieces of sashimi. Two of each: salmon, amaebi, tako, toro and hamachi – except for the hamachi, none of other types qualify for the $24 price tag. The lamb sashimi was also lacking.

Originally, I wanted to try this place out after seeing the aburi nigiri pictures. But I didn’t know the price of it until I got to the restaurant. It was about $26.95 for 6 pieces. I can understand why because of the types of nigiri such as engawa and kobe beef, but it didn’t feel right for me to spend that much. So I ended up ordering a bunch of different items to share with my friend. We ended up getting beef yaki udon, beef tongue skewers, BBQ suid, and the aburi saba battera. The food was OK. My favourite item was the beef yaki udon and beef tongue. I didn’t really like the BBQ squid because of the sauce and it wasn’t that tender. The service was good and they were nice about explaining what all the skewers were. However overall, I don’t think I’d make the trek back to Richmond to go to this place. It is decent if you live in this area, but there are many other Japanese restaurants in Vancouver. Especially because the prices of sushi are on the much higher end, I’d rather go somewhere else.
