MatsuamaJapanese Restaurant is located on Alexandra Rd in Richmond. It’s a large size of the Japanese Restaurant and has great reviews on the Website. We went to Matsuamafor Dinner on Sunday evening. The location is not very easy to find. It takes us 10 to 15 mins to find the restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant is large and clean. It has a Japanese style setting in the restaurant. The servers were super friendly and helpful. The menu is very fancy with pictures that we can easier order food. We had Volcano Rool and Half salmon sashimi. The half salmon sashimi is only 5 pc for $6, but the salmon meat tastes fresh. It is a small portion and a little bit expensive price. The Volcano rolls in Matsuama is different from other restaurants. It’s a very simple roll including Prawn Tempura, avocado, cucumber, tobikowrapped in spicy. It’s about $9. The taste is decent, but it’s not worth the price. In summary, the food inMatsuamaJapanese Restaurant is OK. Not very excited. food.belindajin.com
Matsuyama offers a pretty average japanese dining experience. From prices to food is just decent. I did enjoy their Matsuyama Roll, which is a meat lovers delight. It combines spicy tuna, salmon, scallop and prawn tempura into one delicious roll.
Matsuyama is not too bad. Cheap sushi and the quality is average. I dont mind their tamago nigiri and grilled dishes. Sashimi is ok and could be better.
I heard they have really good prices for late night sushi here.KEY: For god’s sake… Chefs behind the sushi bar please stop swearing in Chinese. I can understand you perfectly and it annoys the crap out of me when Im trying to eat.
We were staying at a hotel nearby and thought we give this place a try. The service is not bad but the food was horribly. We ordered some sashimi, Katsu curry rice, Miso black cod, and a couple other appetizers. The Katsu curry rice was nothing like Japanese curry, there was even undissolved curry paste in the sauce. The sashimi was poorly sliced (part thin part chunky on the same piece of sashimi), and to top it off, I found a few pieces of fishbones in one of my toro sashimi. To me, that is absolutely unacceptable. This is definitely a restaurant I would never visit again.
Can’t go wrong with Matsuyama!! Amazing prices for amazing food. When I was younger I would always do the after 9pm cheap menu, but now that I’m older and appreciate my beauty sleep, I prefer to beat the rush and pay the regular prices for larger portions. Been coming here for 10 years now. Servers are great and remember me and my usual menu items and odd requests. Highly recommended!! Side Note: The photo was an afterthought so much of my food here was already eaten.
Absolutely the worst sashimi and sushi I’ve had in the lower mainland. Fish aren’t fresh and can tell that they’ve been sitting in the freezer for a long time. The rolls aren’t consistent and aren’t cut evenly. I’m not expecting perfectly even but seriously one would be thin and cut not even straight and the next piece being too big for one bite. Seriously, I would not recommend this place.
