I don’t know why they emphasis they’re best service. I went order No 10 pork chop. Not only when the cashier forgot to give me $10 change, when the order is ready it’s another set. I told them I ordered No 10, But chef,in return said they don’t go by number (not always in order). I can’t believe he uses this nonsense excuse. they why you have numbers attached to all combo you shown. O……K……then…then….when i ordered No. 10 why your cashier did not confirm what (No 10) I ordered. At last, I said so you took the wrong order and I couldn’t change. The chef replied as Yes, thank you. He has an attitude and make it sounds like I am the one who made the mistake and I wanted to change it now. I can’t believe this. I guess the cashier need to be re-trained, as so the chef what their so-called best service on their web site. I will not get meals from there again.
This katsudon was really nice and juicy, i ordered the loin set (9 $ cad after tax). It is served on a styrofoam plate and bowl and for me it was a little bit decrease in term of flavor from the entire meal. The miso soup also nice.
Ordered a Katsu Sandwich, was a bit disappointed by the size and the fact that it was premade and served cold. But the taste was very good the pork cutlet was juicy and the sauce complement the taste so well. Would try again.
This is the best katzudon I’ve had. It’s not just katsudon, but tender katsudon. Until now, every katzudon I’ve order had been chewy dried up pork. But this pork was super tender, the bread crumbs batter was light, fluffy and crunching at the same time. Just the right amount of soup, onions and tender eggs. The rice was not soaked with soup, so it still maintained the right texture of perfectly cooked fresh rice. Absolutely no trace or after effects if MSG. Yum! I’ll defintely order this dish from Saboten again!
Ive really liked Saboten in Japan and Hong Kong so I was excited to try it in Aberdeen. Got the loin katsudon (pork cutlet rice bowl). Although it doesnt seem like much, the portion is actually pretty big. I just wished they had provide more sauce for the katsudon. It was bit dry and bland. Tried the pork cutlet curry. I really like it. The curry acts as a good sauce for the pork cutlet.

3/5 is the score I could give today because their staff has made a lot of mistakes recently. The food is still superb to me, I run into this place almost once a week, still never disappoints me. But sometimes their staff would give you the wrong sauce or not giving you all the sauce…Which I have experienced 3 times already. Better yet, they would even ask you to pay again when you have already paid in full 10 minutes ago with the receipt in your hands, lol. It’s okay tho, I would still come back, just not as often anymore.
