I had high hopes for this place since the interior is so nice and vibrant. But the ramen was not up to par. Very small portion, little soup and decent noodles. The prices are very high compared to most places. The chashu was pretty okay and managed to earn 2 stars.
Very poor customer service. Adds egg as topping and only comes with half an egg. Inquired about this and was told when you order 1 egg, they only give you half. Need to order 2 eggs to get 1 whole egg. Makes no sense.
The ramen was good, the soup base was good. The chasiu could be better, i.e., too fatty. Overall, would prefer and option for leaner chasiu. The chicken karrage not worth the $6.
One of the few authentic Japanese Ramen restaurants in Richmond. We ordered the Spicy Chicken Ramen, the oden, and the small pork don. Maybe it is just me, but I found their food quality is not as good as when they first opened.
Good restaurant. Wait was not long and service was very good. The food was very delicious. Price is around $20-25/person. Definitely would go back again.
Stated on the menu In 1967, SANPOU GROUP was founded in Niigata, Japan. They specialize in Niigata Shoyu Ramen that uses dried sardines imported from Japan. Apparently, even the sardines are rare in Japan as well. I’m more of a shio kind of guy but If shoyu is their special, I’d give it a try.The soup base they used, I could taste all the flavours even the sardines. The dish was presented very well and the flavour of the noodles, toppings and ingredients seemed to be top quality. The chicken Karaage wasn’t my thing nothing too special.
I was very lucky! Didn’t have to wait in line for the first time ever. The flavour of the ramen was great and the texture of the ramen was good as well. Sadly the portions are very small and definitely not worth the price. I would prefer yah-yah-ya ramen over this place for sure
