Great food and service. I recently took my parents out to Fresh Restaurant for my dad’s birthday. We all loved the food, and my dad especially raved about the grilled chicken. Service was great. Will definitely go again.
Great for a special occasion. We were looking for a good place to celebrate 5 friends’ birthdays. Since we all have toddlers/babies the venue needed to be family friendly and cater to different tastes. I’m so glad I decided to make a reservation at Fresh for their Sunday brunch because the service was great, the kids were happy and the food selection and quality were top-notch. The brunch buffet had seafood, salad, hot food and dessert table; all decorated and presented beautifully. The food was constantly refreshed as were our complimentary juices and coffees. They even served the adults champagne mimosas, which was a nice touch. I’ll definitely be back for our next special occasion.
We had dinner and some drinks. Pretty good service and food. Feels like a hotel lounge.
Mothra Says…Quality & Laughter in Vancouver BC. After a 300 mile road trip to Vancouver BC recently, we arrived at our hotel and awaited our niece and her husband. We sat ourselves in the restaurant downstairs at Fresh and ordered up two cocktails, Ks decaf baileys and my regular: Absolute martini shaken up, no vermouth, lemon twist. Excellent. It was near to 2PM and knowing that the table would be peckish, I ordered large nachos with spicy beef. Allison and Mike arrived. It was good to see them both. The four of us caught up and chowed down most of that large and pretty good nacho plate.Later that evening, after a beautiful wedding celebration, K and I found ourselves at Fresh once again nearing the 10:30pm mark and bellied up to the bar for a snack and a drink. Karen the bartender and all around keeper of the peace greeted us with a smile and a laugh. Now Karen is just what you want when you are an ‘outta- towna’ and not versed in the local libations. She steered me to a pint of a local award winning brew called Grandville Island ale and K picked up a glass of Prospect sav blanc with a nice citrus nose. Perusing the late night menu, K picked a flatbread. While awaiting our gnosh, we chatted with Karen who gave us some tourist info…ie: where to go, and where not to. We chatted about wines, beers, good food, and social media. Our goat cheese, sausage, caramelized onion, basil & fig flatbread arrived. Wow! Nice. These figs were: cest magnifique! My beer was very good, Ks sav blanc was excellent, the flatbread was amazing and flavorful (and something that we will copy at the casa de Mothra), and Karen our bartender was great. Mothra says….. good menu, good service, great company, …we will be back! 3.50 of 5.0
Overcooked food. Crab Bruschetta – dungeness crab, bocconcini, basil, roma tomato, white balsamic, brioche $13 3/5 – It tasted more like a taste than a brioche. Crab was not fresh, more like something from a can.Cioppino – sockeye salmon, scallops, dungeness crab, green prairie prawns, saffron tomato broth $25 3.5/5 – Totally overcooked. Scallops were not fresh. The texture of the prawns was weird (didn’t taste fresh again). I couldn’t recall having any crab. The broth was the only thing I enjoyed.Wild BC Salmon – potato gnocchi, grapefruit beurre blanc, market vegetables $24 3.5/5 – My friend gave me a sample of this. She said her salmon was worse than mine but I liked my piece more than mine. She said her gnocchi was good.Gelderman Farms Pork Chop – cold smoked, apple confit, red cabbage, peruvian blue potato $26 2.5/5 – The pork chop was overcooked and dry. I enjoyed the sides though. The blue potato was moist and the sauce was nice.Beef Tenderloin 2/5 – I had a sample of this. Our server did not ask him how he would like his steak. It was between medium well to well.Pineapple Upside Down Cake $9 3.5/5 – Syrup soaked cake sitting on top of a canned pineapple ring. It was okay but it would be better if the pineapple was fresh. Still better than the Marble Brownie.Service was excellent but there was only another table on a Friday night. Maybe I shouldn’t expect to much from a Surrey restaurant.
Great tasting food and presentation, nice and modern decor but service was a somewhat slow. She was very nice and helpful but we had to wait for her even though the restaurant was pretty much empty. That’s okay though because we were all very pleased with our food and the quality considering the prices.
Very mediocre, very expensive. As a hotel guest, I had breakfast there this morning. Very quiet restaurant. It took 45 minutes to get eggs, ham and toast for 4 of us. I picked egg shells out of my poached eggs. And our bill was over $100 for four of us. I won’t be back.
