Very large space with very few customers; server did not seem to understand when we were asking for cold water, hot tea, the usual items for the large crowd of us; menu item i.e shiki nabeyaki udon was not served in the traditional clay pot [so got cold quickly], had interesting toppings but not well described on the menu; sushi rice was not great, too compressed; we had to ask another server for the low sodium soy sauce which we waited a long time for…in fact, we waited a long time for most items. I would try another restaurant next time.

We arrived a little early for the 5pm dinner service so we had a little wait. The service was good for AYCEand the food was good as well. The food came quickly and the portions were an appropriate size. The sake sashimi and nigiri were both sockeye which looks very different from the atlantic we are used to but generally tastes the same raw. The teriyaki and the udon were both good. The gyoza could have been improved. Generally a good experience and they seem to do ACYE all year round here (other restraunts told us AYCE only in the off season).
Horrible service. Tony! Do you not read your reviews? What happened here? We drive in from Sidney frequently for lunch or dinner and we came in the last few times and EVERY staff member has a frown on their face, especially the long time waitress and the sushi chefs… the girls that used to treat us good and tell us welcome back don’t even acknowledge us, we brought friends the last time and asked for a booth (we raved how good it was there) and they said they were all reserved. No reserve signs anywhere so we sat at a tiny table for at least an hour and the booths were still ALL EMPTY when we left. I made a comment and she just walked away?!?! very disappointed sorry to say and won’t be back anytime soon..
The all you can eat pricing for children is insanely expensive.. It’s too bad that the all you can eat for a 3 year old is charged $16. Most places that offer all you can eat have children prices that are way more affordable and fair. It’s too bad that Shiki Sushi charges this price and not flexible at all. Until it changes, there’s no chance we’ll be back there. Be warned everyone if you have young children.
Hands down worst sushi restaurant in Victoria. We waited by the door for 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged. the server tried to seat us at the booth because it was just my date and I and when we asked if we could sit at the table that was vacant for the last 10 minutes she told us no because there is only 2 of us. She outright lies to us and said it was reserved. They do not take reservations. Why is Shiki Sushi still in business? Te service is slow, the food is mediocre, the place feels like a warehouse and you wait half an hour before your server comes around. Tip. When the server does come around order a LOT of food because she won’t be around again for about 30 mins. Again, why is this place still in business?
