My new favorite place in town. Cooking classes are amazing, the daily chef’s plate is a weekday must and when I need to wine and dine a guest I book a lunch and learn noon hour cooking demo for something different! So much variety in the use of the space, I love to sit on the patio chairs and sip coffee or host a private staff party or birthday. And when I am busy I take home any of the amazing soups or treats from the pantry. So glad I found this place earlier this year!
AMAZING. I had lunch there today, on top of having a wide variety of salads and sandwiches, they had a Chefs plate…which was amazing. The food was so good. I had a great time just sitting in the amazing space. Everyone was friendly, and loved the fact that the chef was out and about. Definitely going back.
Mixed review. Excellent food, but the staff seem really unhappy. There are a lot of amazing catering companies in this town and when it comes to food, London Chef is definitely one of the best; however, I’m not sure great food can make up for the substandard customer service at a business function or event.
Delicious Food, Great Selection. I work nearby and have been going quite a lot over the past while. They serve Discovery Coffee, which is okay. But they have a lot of great little treats, small cookies for $1 and brownies/cakes. In addition, they serve sandwiches that look very filling. I’ve gotten some of their small sized salad (potato kale mixture) for $7 and had a solid lunch.I think they also do some seatings with a special meal of the day, which I want to try at some point. They have some neat unique foods that they sell: frozen soups they make, various jars and canned goods. The staff are friendly. Although I found them kind of cold at first, but I’ve gone enough times that they are nice to me now.*Month later update:*I’ve tried many more things and really enjoy the place. It’s got some great quality fresh food. Also the best thing ever are the Gianfranco’s and Chef’s special plates. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, you can get a large gourmet lunch for $10! I’ve had Thai coconut prawn curry; bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato sandwich with lemon mayo; fresh pasta with prawns. All have been mind-blowing.
Hmmm….. After initially enjoying a fantastic muffin some time ago, I finally decided that it was time to try out lunch, and I am sad to admit that I am quite on the fence. I had the special butternut squash salad and frittata. I’m not saying I’m a food expert, but the salad was far too earthy for my liking. I enjoy butternut squash and it can be very flavourful when cooked, and although this squash looked grilled, most of it ended up feeling as if it had just been cut out of the vegetable, and tasted just as rough. The spice was appropriate and interesting, but came off as strange on what otherwise seemed like chunks of raw squash. Catching seeds and strings as one would expect to find in a raw pumpkin wasn’t appetizing. That being said, the frittata was excellent, and really saved the day. I think what I need to do is try the chef’s plate one of these weeks, and try out one of the other great looking salads (the gentleman next to me with the carrot salad made me envious) after the squash let me down.
We had brunch – fantastic food – cheap prices – amazing concept – inviting – artsy – just plain great – worth a stop – again and again – you can go alone – one big table shared
