Fish and Chips was great. I love their tartar sauce, fries and coleslaw. I wish they give more coleslaw as they serve small portion. The Clam Chowder soup is best. This is worth to try at Horseshoe bay while waiting for your ferry.

Sorry guys. I know this place is supposed to be well known and an icon, but both times there have been quite disappointing. With the restaurant half empty I’m told at the front that the food will take at least 30 minutes. The batter on the fish and oyster with chips was over fried, soaked in oil, and too thick. The fries were also so hard that most would break in half when poked with a fork. The view… was nice.

Nostalgia doesn’t translate to good foodHaven’t eaten here in years and thought we would check it out considering the owner had passed recently.Fish is over battered and greasy. Chips are barely passable as well. The coleslaw they give you is a tiny sad disposable cup. Only good dishes we had were the clam chowders (manhattan was a bit better than the New England)Next time will try C lovers for a comparison at least that is all you can eat for about the same price point or even leasAnd for all those reviewers who comment on cleanliness of the washroom they are correct it isn’t that clean

Troll’s fish and chips joint has been around for a long time. That being said, it would be expected to have good food, and it does. The service is friendly, the W/C is clean. The prices are a bit steep, but overall a good place.

Big price…..small portions. Having grown up on the North Shore, Troll’s used to be THE place for fish and chips…particularly Halibut.Took my parents for lunch today and was extremely disappointed in the size and quality of the portions . For a $21 plate, even the amount of cole slaw was skimpy and the fish pieces were thin tail pieces that were more batter than fish. Mediocre at best.In hindsight, should have sent them all back to the kitchen…. Too bad, as it was a great place to take visitors from out of town….not any more.

I read a lot about Trolls living on past glory but I find it the same as when I was a kid. I come from Port Moody for their Manhattan clam chowder because it’s the best I’ve ever had. The fish and chips are consistently good. The staff does seem to get overwhelmed when it gets busy but it’s always busy. I’ll keep coming back.
