We (table of 2) were promptly seated when we arrived at 6:45 pm. Our server took our order. Drinks and appetizers came fairly quickly. However, our mains took over an hour to arrive and when we asked our service he said that that they would come out very quickly but there was a large table ahead of us. I had to flag down the server, he didn’t even come and explain to us. The restaurant was not full at all and in fact a couple who came in after us enjoyed their meals and paid before we even got our mains. When our food came, our lamb burger was completely burnt, it was black! I was so surprised that they actually served it.We definitely will not be coming back to the Heron Rock Bistro. The food was mediocre at best and not worth an hour wait. Service is bad. The only thing enjoyable about this place is the art and live music.
Consistently great food and excellent service at a reasonable price – a hard to find combination! Some of my favourites off the menu include eggs benny, bacon and snapper po-boy. Nice selection of local micro brews on tap too!
Food was good. Service was appalling. Tahlia our server gave us the impression that we were wasting her time. I returned to Heron Rock Bistro because I had an amazing steak there the first time awhile back. The food is good but if you want service beyond that of a malfunctioning drone then check out The Crooked Goose – same menu, better service.
Popped in after an exhausting trip to the hospital not too long ago while under the mighty influence of some lovely painkillers. Generally I don’t remember much while in such a state, but my ever so loving boyfriend can attest that the fried chicken in the fried chicken burger is downright the best he’s ever had, and I agreed, so therefore it wasn’t the drugs, it was the real deal, folks. The fries were very fancy for my addled tastebuds, but delicious enough to take home and munch on later. The server, understanding my condition, was extremely kind and even came up to us as we were leaving and wished me well with a concerned, motherly sort of look, which truly warmed my heart. I have vowed to return and devour another fried chicken burger with clear mind and grumbling stomach, and report back on the angelic nature of this delicious morsel.
Service was fast and very friendly. Food was good and the live music was nice.
Its okay…. Service is not great, food is good. Over all I feel like Im at a training school for servers, which isnt exactly the vibe I go for when I eat out.
FABULOUS HERON ROCK. Doesn’t matter if you live near or far, one must grab a taste at this funky yummy bistro. I’ve eaten many dishes here, breakfast, lunch and dinner and as well just popped in for a drink. The kitchen is in full view outside, cool feature, the art is ever changing, the outside patio is surrounded by boxes of overflowing fresh herbs, the service is great, the ambiance is even better and Andrew makes it a wonderful experience! The food is sourced locally, everything from bread to sauces etc are made in house from scratch, again locally sourced, much organic and lots of gluten free to choose from. I’d recommend eating here any time of day or night and check out their music nights and specials.
