I loved this place! The food was excellent and their portion sizes were perfect. We ate all our food and it was just the right amount. Their prices are good and the building is really unique. They have trivia questions on all the tables to get the conversation going with your guests and it makes the time pass quickly while your waiting for your food.
Great food. The curried chicken wrap is just right and when you order crispy fries… you get them. The service is quick and she is very witty. Nice to sit in the sun and just watch the busy little corner.
Nachos were terrible. $16 for nachos that were practically cold. Poor quality ingredients. Guacamole is not fresh, definitely made from a powder. Wine was extremely bitter. When asked if it was old, server said no. It tasted like it had been sitting for a long while. Nice people, but bad quality food. Do not get the nachos, you will be disappointed.
We had a really nice lunch at The Bent Mast. Our server was a delight. Food was good and quick to arrive.
Excellent food, Great patio, Amazing staff, wth one exception.. Im glad to see its just just me..I have been making my way down to the bent mast every so often for the last 8 years, and recently I have moved down to this beautiful neighborhood. I love it, everything about james bay amazing. Especially The Bent Mast. In the last two years I have noticed a HUGE improvement in the food. The service has also greatly improved! The tap and lines are clean, the bar had a nice overhaul.But now we need to discuss the exception. This is also where im glad im not the only one. Kate, the General Manager… I dont know how to describe her. Without just being rude… very rude.The others who posted before me said it all really. Whoever is allowing her to run that business while its on the up is crazy. Honestly more than once she needs to have been sent home….2 liters of wine earlier. However she seems to ban customers on a whim, I can only imagine how she handles the staff.
Excellent food and excellent service but the alcoholic manager needs to find a new place to drink. It made my friend and I very uncomfortable to hear her slander other staff members while drowning in white wine. This place is on the up and up but the manager needs a new watering hole.
Drunk manager. Everytime I have gone to the Bent Mast, the manager Katherine Thomson is drunk. Very rude and inappropriate. I can’t believe she is allowed to work there. I don’t mean just tipsy – I mean alcoholic drunk. Someone really needs to get her fired.
