Lee Yuen Seafood Restaurant used to be my favourite dim sum restaurant., however, since management changed, food deteriorated to such an extent that it doesn’t have the slightest sense of decency. Let me take two examples to support my claim. The shaumei of a Cantonese dim sum has a certain percentage of lean meat to fat .The best proportion should be 90% lean meat to fat. The last time I have shaumei there, the fat to lean meat ratio is 90 to ten. I couldn’t finish the whole dish. Today I was there around 10.30. The tea was only about 50C in temperature. How on earth can they prepared tea with water at around 50C. I will never go back again.
When your mom tells you its a good place then you need to try it (of course you need to take her). Good selection of dim sum and prices were reasonable. With Dim sum, you check off what you want and write quantity. Just like other places and you can order extra dishes from menu. Its easy to pass this place as its between two busy streets and you may even wonder is this place actually open? Yes it is and yes its good. We went for lunch twice in one week. I would give this place 3.5 since the service was slow and I asked for my soft drink several times but received drink after 30 minutes
This is by far, my favourite place in Surrey for Chinese food. When I don’t want to make that journey to Richmond for the variety of Chinese food, I come here. Their dim sum is amazing, it is definitely the highlight of this place. One of my favourite dishes to get when I come here is the Siu Mai. They serve the biggest Siu Mai that I have ever seen! Quality is right up to par with quantity, however. The flavour is nice and bold, not too salty, and you get that highly-sought-after umami taste as soon as you take your first bite. It is a must-try if you are visiting Lee Yuen.Another dish I have fallen in love with is the baby octopus. There is no chewy octopus here – only the smooth sailing of the plate from the hands of the servers onto your table. It is ridiculously tender, and although they do pair it with a broth, it does not mask the flavour of the octopus, it only compliments it.I will see you hopefully sometime in the near future, Lee Yuen!
It is Mothers Day 2019 and we order a very large delivery of food at 4.00pm for delivery at 7.00pm to give them a good head start. At 7.40pm I call them to ask where the delivery is, the answer I get is that they forgot it. We renegotiate a delivery for 8.30pm. At 8.00pm the restaurant calls me and says they have now closed the kitchen for home deliveries and are cancelling my order. This was how my wife’s Mothers Day meal ended.
This was our favorite place for Dim Sum in Surrey. We used to go there at least once a month. Recently they undertook minor renovations of replacing the old carpet with laminate, getting rid of the upper deck to add more seats, etc. They also added new tale cloths and seat covers. Today we went there for dim sum and to our surprise we were presented with a completely new menu. Not only had the prices dramatically increased to a minimum of $6.55-$7.55 a dish for Dim Sum, the menu was also drastically reduced for far far less menu items. Many of our favorite dishes are gone. We were extremely disappointed, walked out and left. We will not return.
Used to be my favorite Chinese take out but ordered dinner for 3 with a side of large deep fried prawns. All three fried elements were very poor. Food was dripping in grease over cooked. It was my wifes Valentines treat and I actually apologized to her. We threw 1/2 prawns out, The almond chicken and spring rolls were also dripping in grease yuck. Food was not fit to eat.
Today after a gruelling two week roller coaster ride at work I decided to get take out for me and my fur kids. I go in order dinner for 2 B. Usually it takes quit sometime for the food to arrive. However, tonight it was ready, packaged, and brought to me before 15 minutes even passed. I thought wow that was fast. I get home, I’m starving, I get a plate, I serve up my food. It’s ice cold! I live less than a block from this rundown shabby place! How is my food cold? Did you forget to heat it up? I will never, ever, ever go back there! I work hard for my money and that folks was not money well spent.
