TLDR: Had a bad stomach after eating here, had to use washrooms 3 times. Fish was not fresh, do not eat here.Ordered the hamachi-don for lunch, the presentation was beauitiful, however the hamachi tasted slightly-off.Regretablly I didn’t pay much attention to it and finished the meal.Got a very serious stomach problem after lunch, had to use washrooms 3 times in total that afternoon.I didn’t eat anything that day before/after the meal, so it was the only possible cause to it.I’ll try to report this incident.

This is a small but tidy shop located in Kerrisdale, near 41st Avenue. They have a pretty good menu consisting of popular Japanese dishes, both cooked and sushi/sashimi. I had their Takoyaki, Chicken Karaage, and Chicken Teriyaki & Egg Fried Rice. I enjoyed all of their food, in particular their karaage and their fried rice. The prices were also very reasonable. The service, while not the most personable, was quite attentive and polite. I’d definitely recommend checking this spot out.Takoyaki ($5.25):3.5/5The takoyaki had a crispy exterior and was soft and creamy on the inside. I didn’t really get that much ocotopus inside, but that was fine since I don’t really care that much for octopus.Chicken Karaage ($7.25):4/5This was actually more similar to the Taiwanese-style chicken vs. the Japanese style. I was quite impressed by the chicken: the pieces were large, tender and juicy. It was well-seasoned and flavourful, and had a great crispy exterior. Chicken Teriyaki & Egg Fried Rice ($10.95):3.5/5This consisted of fried rice that’s topped with chicken teriyaki. I was a bit disappointed by the chicken to be honest: I found it to be a little anemic and lacking in grilled flavour, and also lacking in teriyaki sauce, although the meat was still seasoned. I really enjoyed their fried rice however, which was very well cooked and well-seasoned/flavourful. It came with a bowl of miso soup, which was just standard.Summary:Food: 3.5/5Price: 4/5Service: 3.5/5Overall: 3.5/5Recommendations: Chicken Karaage, Egg Fried Rice

Great spot in Kerrisdale newly opened by a Taiwanese family serving amazing Japanese cuisine with Taiwanese flavours .What can I say, the service the price and the food were all top notch!I came with a group of friends who all have different tastes and not one of us had anything bad to say.I had the Unagi don and the Mango cheese roll and good lord they were so good. Both the eel and the salmon In the mango cheese roll were fresh and delicious. There’s lots of good options in this area but don’t over look Jiu Jang as a sushi spot, everything was as good or better than many sushi restaurants!
