Nakamura is one of our favourite Japanese restaurants but because it can be expensive we save our dinner visits for special occasion. The flavours are delicate, fine presentation and service, and there is a Zen like stillness in the atmosphere. Never rushed and food is served in a timely manner, one after another as one finishes an order. We have not had any dishes we don’t like. Great Japanese cuisine!
This is THE BEST sushi place in all of Vancouver! Better than Toshi, better than Kishimoto, and better than Ajisai! Absolutely everything on the menu is authentic, beautifully presented and delicious! The Tuna Gomawasa ae is like heaven on earth … this is an absolute must! The people are lovely, the atmosphere is wonderful, this is my happy place. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this everything about this place!
Its okay. Decent food, portions are very small for the price. They say authentic Japanese cuisine but it’s all standard Vancouver Japanese food, oh and they don’t vinegar their rice. Which blows my mind when Japanese restaurants serve mushy rice and unseasoned rice.
I was sat right away and greeted by a nice server. There was one other table of 3 gentlemen across the room. The place seats 8-12 tables depending on 2-4 guests. Anyhow, small space, clean, etc. the menu is small but they offer sashimi, nigiri ($2/pc) and a small selection of rolls, along with some lunch box sets and appies. I ordered 3 rolls which were good; spicy salmon, shrimp and avocado and a negitoro. It was pretty standard fare but tasted very nice and came out quickly. I also had miso soup and really really enjoyed the ebi sunomomo. The sunomomo was by far the best I’ve had. Lots of shrimp and a nice balance of the vinegar dressing/broth but instead of noodles it was very thinly sliced ribbons of cucumber and seawood. Delicious! My bill was $20 plus tip. I would go again just to have the sunomomo. Overall a nice spot. Smaller portions but very nicely prepared. If you’re looking for value sushi this may not be it but it is definitely a nice place for a quick lunch.
N/a. Repeated19 Nov, 2014Overpriced okay-food. The portion size was just tiny and sad. Each fish slices were small, and not that fresh. vQuality was okay, but given the price, it’s really expensive. Quality was about the same as samurai sushi, but the price is almost 50% more than ajisai (might as well go to ajisai). I don’t know why the rating for this restaurant is so high when there’s much better sushi for less in this area.
Best wasabi! should try spicy tuna
