Donair Land is a good Mediterranean quick bite restaurant located in the Renfrew-Collingwood area. It is located right next to Joyce skytrain station so if you’re transiting, this is a quick stop for a meal on the way home. The restaurant has ample seating so if you wanted to eat in, it is certainly an option. There is a large TV that plays sports so if you’re dropping by, you could probably catch a game while you eat. However, I’m used to just taking out.We came in pretty late at around 8:00PM but the restaurant still had some patrons dining in. The restaurant is well lit and looks clean. You can see their beef, lamb, and chicken cooking in their back on rotaters. We ordered a regular Beef Donair and a Chicken Platter. The Beef Donair is quite big by itself. We had it with everything they offered and it tasted pretty good. We found a good amount of sauce and not too much so that it turns into mush at the end. There is a good amount of beef, lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Each bite had a good mix of all the ingredients involved. The veggies were fresh and provided a good crisp refreshing bite. The beef, however, was a bit bland and could use some more seasoning. The Chicken Platter, like the Donair, is also quite big. We again opted to get everything including the spicy sauce. It comes with plain white rice, tabouli, hummus, and a pita bread. The sauces we got looked like Tzatziki, spicy, and garlic sauce. The chicken was good though again it was a bit on the bland side. The hummus tasted pretty standard and tasted just like a store bought brand. The tabouli had a lot of cucumbers and also some green peppers which is different from what we’re used to. It tasted great and was quite refreshing. The rice was quite a bit overcooked and some parts basically mushed together as a clump. The service was good from the cashier that helped serve us. She was friendly and enthusiastic. Overall we thought this was a good experience though it did not blow us away. Perhaps it was because we arrived late that some of the food was overcooked. We’ll likely return to give this place another shot.
