Delicious African and Indian food! This will fill you up for sure. They also play some nice African music and are splendidly decorated. Recommend the beef curry. Enjoy!
Had the chicken biryani twice here. Not a very authentic one, bit a little different but good. It was a little bland, but nice juicy chunks of chicken in a very good Indian curry. Liked it. The ambience is very good – Indian, African themed
I was a bit disappointed at just how heavily Indian-food inspired even the African portion of the menu is. The Maasai ribs was delectable, but me and by friend both found the peanut sauce served with the motoke to be very underwhelming. All in all, I’d still recommend the place because of the ambience, and the special collection of east African food that is hard to find elsewhere.
Well I have been going here for quite some years and have loved their food. Today after 2 years I decided to go there for a birthday brunch with my family. I had reserved a table for 12 but when I got there I was greeted very poorly with a table that wasn’t ready. Once seated the restaurant started filling quickly and the staff were very overwhelmed as they clearly didn’t have enough man power. It took over 45 minutes just to get drinks, 1.5 hrs to get appies and after 2 hours they decided to take an entre order. A total of 3.5 hours to have a brunch. To top it off found hair in two dishes and I brought this up with the owner (nash) who didn’t care and didn’t even apologize. His way of sorry was 20% off that particular dish. Lol. What a joke this place is and their food quality has really dropped while prices keep going up. Absolutely atrocious place.
What a great restaurant this turned out to be. African inspired dishes with full on heat. The chilli prawns were amazing. Then there’s that whole fish dish (which I couldn’t tackle) my friend managed to do a good job on it though. They have a smaller version of it in a fillet in that delicious poussin sauce (for those like me who cannot stand gazing into fishes eyes on a plate!) Great service & hospitality as always in Canada
I, my wife and two other guests went to the restaurant to celebrate my anniversary on 16th Aug, 2016. We ordered, beef ribs, shrimp curry and butter chicken. While every other food was delicious but the butter chicken was a disaster. It was as if somebody has put chunks of chicken in yellow curry and spread some butter and black pepper on top of it. It was very watery in texture and tasted nothing like regular butter chicken. As an Asian, I ate butter chicken in hundreds of restaurants and if someone brings this dish in front of me and tell me this is butter chicken I wont agree. I asked for the manager and the Owner stepped up. We told him that all their food items were good but we didnt like the butter chicken as it was nothing like it. He was an old Indian guy who instead of being sorry started arguing with us. He kept on saying how their butter chicken is unique and while 99% restaurant follows the same recipe, they are the original makers of butter chicken. He also went a step further by saying we are the only clients in 12 years to complain about the butter chicken. He kept embarrassing me in front of my wife and other guests while I just wanted to say that we didnt like his nontraditional butter chicken. He argued for long 10 minutes and finally saying What you want me to say, we are cooking it wrong? I finally gave up and left the place. If I am paying over $100 I at least deserve a simple sorry or we will try to improve next time. The owner knew it was my anniversary as we send a cake inside to bring it later after dinner, but instead he kept embarrassing us. I work in hospitality industry and this is definitely not how you deal with guests. Please dont order Butter Chicken if you go there and keep yourself prepared for embarrassment if you dont like their food. Cheers!!
Hi Halal lovers,I was a kitchen staff at Jambo Grill and I assure you that they serve a mixture of halal and non-hahal meat. They buy some of the meat from halal suppliers while the other is normal non-halal stuff. Their claim of serving 100% halal meat is absolutely worng. Besides, they use non-halal sauces such as oyster sauce in their grilled items (Eg. Masai ribs, Boneless ribs). You can inspect their freezer anytime to find non-halal items. So, its completely on you to decide whether you want to dine or not. Thanks
