Yummy Mammy Chinese Restaurant is located on Joyce Street Vancouver, which is 5 mins away from Joyce Skytrain Station. It is a small size of Chinese family Restaurant. I was used to go to this place a lot with my Chinese friends. This place has very traditional Chinese food. Its spicy food is my favourite. The restaurant is opening every day in the special time period except Tuesday is CLOSED. My friends and I always had a lunch here. Our Favourite dishes were Fern Root Salad, Boiling fish with chili, and Spicy Pigfeet. The prices of food were cheap with a large portion. The taste of the food was awesome. Fern Root Salad was a cold dish and its taste sweet, sour, and spicy. Fern Root tasted like Rice Noodle. Its one of my favourite Cold Dishes. I am not a pigfeet fan, but the Spicy Pigfeet dish from this restaurant was a great dish which I have never had before. I strongly recommend people who love spicy food to try Yummy Mammy Chinese Restaurant. Its a great place to try. The servers and cooks were very friendly and helpful too. Great Food and Great Place to have food. food.belindajin.com
Not your orange chicken or chow mein place. In fact, this is one of the few Chinese restaurant doesn’t have chow mein on their menu. Yummy Mammy serves authentic Guizhou cuisine, sour and spicy. They make their chill oil from scratch with imported dry chili and chicken fat, so much depth in the flavor. Food takes a bit long to wait because it’s not pre-cooked, but it’s worth it. Highly recommend: spicy pigfeet, mammy special taste rice, xinjiang hot chicken (which tastes better than many xinjiang restaurant). Tip:Ask for just little spicy if you’re not sure, which is actually very spicy for most human-being :p
waited 35 minutes for an order of spicy wonton (can you imagine that?)…clearly the lady owner was also biased to Chinese customers (being a Chinese herself)…I was there first but a Chinese couple got their orderahead (some complicated entrees as compared to my wonton)…after I paid, this lady owner, waitress, server, cashierhad the gall to ask for a TIP. when I said no because of very poor service, she said for me not to go back to her restaurant again…oh definitely I PROMISE I NEVER WILL…she was very rude…she needs lessons on customer service…If you’re Chinese feel free to go there and be part of the attitude… but if not, think twice…don’t say I didn’t warn you…there are other much more better restaurants nearby…and oh by the way, they don’t issue formal receipts…me thinks, CRA should be informed…
One of the best true Chinese cuisine dishes. The best spicy fish in lower-mainland.
Little spicy, lots of tastey, reasonable price. Alway love their food.09 Feb, 2013Great traditional Gui Zhou cuisine. Some very spicy, some not, good dishes. This local Caucasian really likes it. Always happy to come again!
