Added flare to their sushi varieties.Tried takeout from here from Skip the Dishes, took over an hour for delivery so we were hungry when it finally arrived. The tempura was crispy, but the yam was undercooked. We ordered two types of the sushi they have on offer- the erotica & fireworks roll. The erotica roll came in 8 pieces, topped with salmon & filled with rice, crab meat & tempura yam. The yam was well cooked & the flavours worked incredibly well together. The fireworks roll came in 8 pieces & surprising the roll was deep fried. The cream cheese, tempura prawns & avocado works amazingly. The roll was a little oily but crispy & very rich in flavour. Two different sauces on the top was over powered by the spicy mayo.My recommendation- the erotica roll.
Food is mediocre. This place is consistently understaffed. Made you wait for 45min during lunch time on weekday without food nor any warning there was going to be a long wait. Worst is even the owner doesn’t think that an apology is needed. Extremely disappointed.
This has become my new usual and in my opinion the best sushi at the best price in Kitsilano. Since opening I’ve been dozens of times and each time to food is as good as you could hope. Always topping up the tea and the combo deals are a LOT of food for a great price. The special rolls are unique and the pressed tuna will leave you wanting more. Staff is always nice, service quite fast and any needs I’ve had have been addressed immediately.
One of the best Japanese restaurants in the Kits area. I go there once or twice a week for lunch. I like to order Sashimi combo since the sashimi are very fresh and tasty. The sushi rolls are all freshly prepared, much better quality than the previous owner. Food comes in with big portions, and I always cannot finish all andhave to do doggy bag. The price is very reasonably given the high quality of food and services. Recommended to everyone who likes Japanese cuisine.
Very friendly staff, fast service, and good food. Good place for lunch break. Personally like the chicken teriyaki combo special, big portion for the price.
Terrible. Came here seeing it was owned by new folks. You know its going to be bad when you see Aburi Sushi on a mega list. We ordered Salmon carpaccio which was thick, few bits of green onion and soy sauce. Compare this to Suika’s impressive carpaccio for the same price, its a mess. We also ordered the spicy tuna with ‘crunch’ which ended up being deep fried chunks of tempura that couldn’t stay on the roll and just made our stomachs’ feel lined with grease. The tuna wasn’t spicy at all, I don’t know if there was any sauce mixed with it. The short ribs were okay in flavor but one slice was nothing but fat and another had a tiny sliver of meat attached to the bone. Overall, poor quality in trying to compete with quality restaurants.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant since it changed hands too… I’m delighted to say that my experience was fantastic and several notches better than my experiences with the previous owners.Fast, polite service with a smile. A free sample of something which I hadn’t thought about ordering but which was so delicious that I’ll certainly be ordering it next time.I think I’ve found my go-to place for sushi from now on!
