Blue Moon Flying Swan Cafe is located on 4th Ave between Granville and Burrard Street. It is owned by a pair of old couple whom lost their daughter in 2005. They currently open 7 days a week for lunch and breakfast only. You could experience home-cooking in a cozy and friendly small cafe. We say they have the best pancakes in Vancouver. We never get disappointed on their banana and/or blueberry pancakes. Their classic breakfast (Big Plate) is unbeatable with eggs, bacons, sausages, homemade potatoes, toasts, juice and coffee. Great price! Great food!Services: 4.5/5Food: 5/5Special Features: Banana/Blueberry Pancakes, classic breakfast
We’ll be back!. My boyfriend and I stopped in here for breakfast this weekend on our way down to the Comic shop. He’s eaten here before but I hadn’t, it’s cute and the decor is amusing, looking at all the motorcycles on the ceiling. It’s also small so if you blink you might miss it. The food was good and plentiful and I feel decently priced. I had the Eggs Benedict and the boy had the Rancheros and a waffle. The Benny was good though I should have asked for soft poached as the eggs were almost cooked through and the best part of a Benny is runny eggs oozing over the English muffin. The Rancheros was huge and filled my guy up. The waffle was simple and tasty but a wee bit overpriced at seven dollars. I always feel like there should be an option to add a waffle/short stack for a lesser price if you’re tacking it on to another meal but people have to pay the bills somehow! The home fries were really nice and crispy, my favourite part of the meal! The service was fantastic though, very attentive and I love that grandma is there overseeing everything. We don’t go out for breakfast often but we will be back here in the future!
Ok Food. We come here as a group on occasion. It can be hard to spontaneously find a brunch table in the city for a group. It’s a Chinese Western Diner. I’ve always had the western brunch diner food, but wondered how the Chinese food might be.We often get the Farmer’s Scramble (scrambled eggs with sausage, cheese, , mushrooms, onion and green pepper). I had the Harley Omelette today. These come with pan fried potatoes and buttered brown toast. My friend had the Paddler’s Combo (4 slices french toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, pan friend potatoes).I don’t like how the omelette, scrambles, and the pan fries come out a tinge of grey coloured. Like the grill hasn’t been cleaned. The plain scrambled eggs come out yellow so they must use a different grill. I tried someone’s blueberry pancakes and those were the best of the things that were ordered. I heard the Flying Swan Benny was OK.I think this restaurant could do with some modernization to their menu. I’d almost rather have fewer things on the menu and have some higher quality offerings. It’s a nice family run restaurant and I’d like to see them continue.
Breakfast between Kits and Granville Island. I have breakfast/brunch here about twice a year, and just returned last Friday for the first time in awhile (with an out-of-town guest from Wisconsin). While not cheap by breakfast standards, I find the family-run(?) restaurant here does a good job with hearty diner standards.Tried something different this time: the smoked salmon eggs benedict. It was OK, but I found it a bit boring, and a little heavy on the mushrooms, which were between the eggs and the muffins.I usually order the Rider Breakfast/Combo, which is too much for one person, but is an awesome mix of meat, eggs, potatoes and your choice of blueberry or banana pancakes. The staff is great; the ambience beyond basic (bring something to read or a tablet; they usually have a newspaper lying around). No view out the front windows but traffic racing by the snowboard shops.Overall, it’s worth a visit if you’re tired of the lineups at Sophie’s and/or want to fuel up before some mountain or beach shopping.
Dirty food with poor services. We had our lunch at this restaurant, they served us meat that has gone bad! And they charge cash only, refused to give us a receipt when we asked for one. Do go to Flying Swan! The service is horrible too!
Wonton noodle soup. This homestyle version does not have shrimp (perfect for kids). The broth is a chicken broth based soup and you can opt for veggies or not. A good # of wonton per order.29 Jan, 2012Chorizo, potato hash, poached eggs and cheese. Spicy chorizo sausage! Yum! and I asked for my egg to be soft poached. The potato hash is a pretty hefty portion. I always get a doggy bag for the leftovers cakeonthebrain.blogspot.com
