Indian oven serves above average food in Vancouver. The bhindi was nice and garlicky. I loved the flavours, very creative. Mala kofta was nice and creamy. The service was great, ambience was lovely too.

This is an Indian restaurant located on 4th Avenue in Kits. I was actually quite surprised by the interior, which was very sleek and tidy, like that of a fancier, higher-end restaurants. In addition to having a main menu, they also offer specials that are written on a board outside. I had their Butter Chicken Special and Lamb Biryani. I found the lamb in the biryani to be a tad gamey, but I quite enjoyed their butter chicken. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but not unreasonable. The staff was quite friendly and attentive. I’d definitely recommend checking this place out for some tasty Indian food.Butter Chicken Special ($18):4/5This is from their specials menu, and comes with rice and naan. The butter chicken itself was flavourful and creamy, with a nice bit of sweetness and a fragrance of cilantro. I found the naan to be a bit on the crispy side for my liking, but still tasty. Lamb Biryani ($15.95):3.5/5This consists of rice flavoured with saffron and other spices, and cooked with vegetables and lamb. The rice was flavourful and savoury, with a really great bit of spice. There was a good amount of lamb present, which were well-seasoned. Unfortunately, I did find the lamb to be a bit dry and also having a slightly gamey flavour.Summary:Food: 3.5/5Price: 3.5/5Service: 3.5/5Overall: 3.5/5Recommendations: Butter Chicken

Video review on youtube: vancity food crew indian oven.I tried this place on a quiet Wednesday evening. The restaurant was pretty much empty, but a friend recommended this place. I got the butter chicken meal set, it comes with rice and naan. The butter chicken tastes like campbell’s tomato soup. I couldn’t get over it. I don’t know if it was a bad batch or that was the way they did it, it was sour and you can’t taste any Indian spices. I award it two stars instead of one because the rice and naan were fine. I wouldn’t return to try other dishes because of the uncertainty.

Went here for lunch today as we were in the area and my better half really had a craving for Indian food. It’s upstairs so we had to carry our baby and stroller up the stairs, not a problem at all. We got there at around noon and there were no other patrons inside yet, so we had our choice of table by the window. I must say the server had just mopped the floor and it stunk to high heaven….think they need to throw that dirty ole mop away cos it almost put me off eating. We were given a menu each and it was a very simple menu. Chicken section, lamb section and vegetable section. Drinks on the back. No appetizers or sides on there which I found strange. We would have ordered an appetizer and side each if they were on the menu but they weren’t and I didn’t fancy asking. Wife ordered the chicken masala ($18) and I ordered the eggplant ($15) and a diet coke ($2). Each dish comes with rice and naan bread. When everything came to our table, we were a bit surprised at how small the dish servings were. They were tasty I must say and really hit the spot, just wish they were more generous with portion sizes. The service was friendly enough and fast enough. Nothing overtly special about this place and probably will not go back. Worth a try though.

I went there twice with my friend. The food there was really good, and i love nann!! It seems that the restaurant dosent have a lot of customers, but i like it, because it is not noisy and crowded and dont have to wait for food for too long.

At first looking at the front entrance before the stairs, I was a little bit worried about how this place would turn out. As the saying goes, don’t judge a book by it’s cover! When you get up the steps, this place opens up into this nice higher end interior. The food here was quite good and satisfying. We ordered 3 curries: Butter Chicken, Paneer Makhani, Lamb Madrasi. We also ordered the a full Tandoori Chicken, which was my favourite part of the meal. The Tandoori Chicken was nice and tender and not dry by any means. Loved how it was served on a hot plate over green peppers and onions. Out of the curries my favourite was the butter chicken. Not the best I’ve had, but still quite delicious. Don’t be deceived by the sketchy outer appearance of this place and walk up those stairs and give a try!
