Consistently arrogant and not helpful service. Quality of meats ranges from poor to fair. Not a lot of stock and little of it looks fresh. Gristle in sausages etc. Never going back.
This is one of my favourite butcher shops in the city (along with Pete’s Meat). Great selection, friendly staff, and above all, high quality, great tasting meat. All non-medicated and hormone free, a lot of grass fed selections and free-range too. The homemade roast beef deli meat is fantastic, and they started doing the homemade turkey too. Prices are comparable to everything else out there within the same standard of quality. It’s a great shop to have on W 4th.
3 recent purchases. I have had 3 negative experiences here recently. A f little while ago I paid over $50.00 for a rack of lamb and it was full of fat. I complained and it turned out the butcher hadn’t trimmed the rack. They replaced with a well trimmed cut so I was satisfied. A few days ago I asked for 2 thick pork chops. I ended up paying for 3 so I had to freeze the 3rd. Today was the worst experience. Yesterday I ordered a rib eye steak. I made a really nice marinade for it to BBQ . I knew when I opened the package that something was wrong. There were no bones and no marbling! I plodded ahead however hoping for the best. It was a disaster ! The steak was tough and grizzly.. I only ate a small part of it. Don’t know what to do with the rest of it.. What a waste of time and money! Employee training is definitely needed.
I love this place. Always friendly and very helpful. Meat is always good and the haggis ain’t bad either!
Good Place.. It’s usually fair to say that a good butcher shop is hard to find, I’m glad Jackson’s decided to reopen.Great folks behind the counter and they know what they speak of.
Great local butcher. It is always so nice to get real meat that is better than the crap at grocery stores. What I like about Jacksons is that if you have an idea of what you are thinking of doing, just talk to the butcher. They always have lots of suggestions, and we’ve tried things we wouldn’t have if we didn’t start talking with them. Makes it more interesting. I’m not so sure about the prices of some of that jars of things they have, but they make the place look attractive.
