Video review on my youtube channel: vancity food crew mr. red cafe. This place in Kitsilano was alright. The place has nice decor and the food is fine, but nothing really wowed us. I ordered a vermicelli bowl with pork crab springrolls but they were soggy. The pork belly was pretty much just bacon, but my eating partner’s meatballs were solid. I hear the original location is better.

I dropped in for lunch and had a wonderful dinning experience. I had a difficult time choosing, as everything on the menu sounded wonderful. I ended up having a traditional Banh Mi, pork and pate sandwich, which was delicious. But my favourite item was the sticky rice dumpling with pork. The dumpling was so flavourful and, coupled with the pickled garlic, really delicious. The pandan tea too was a nice change from the usual. It was a lovely meal and I look forward to returning to try other items on the varied menu.

We came here around 7:30pm and the place was full. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait for too long. I had the crepe and the tumeric fish. The ingredients inside the crepe was quite flavorful and hot. The fish fillet came in a small hot plate, topped with fennel and scallion. It was very flavorful, and the small chilli used with it can give you a surprise kick to the taste.

This place had quite a unique and cozy environment made me feel like I was in Vietnam again for a bit. My gf had placed the wrong order and I had decided to take her dish since it look so appetizing with the bed of vegetables and noodles on a bamboo tray and a claypot of pork stew. The pork was a bit on the dry side, but the pork balls inside were flavourful and moist. My other friends had ordered a number of other things for me to try as well, I believe I had the df rice paper square Spring Rolls, I’m not sure of the name on the menu , I can’t seem to find their menu online, it may be under ‘Nem’ but it was my favorite part of the meal, crispy and crunchy on the outside and packed with meat and some bits of crab. I also tried the turmeric dill fish which was good with the shrimp paste dip. That was about all for my meal, I’d love to come back on my next trip back and try the rest of the other menu.

Enjoyed the pho. Had two appetizers with a gummy rice wrapper which were good! The place was clean with a good ambiance. Biggest downside was the service. Food was slow, we had to ask for refills of tea, and they messed up when splitting the bill.
