Tasty teppanyaki with fast and friendly service.Everyone knows how much I love teppanyaki. Dinner and show is ideal for kids and parents alike. I don’t have kids but I have a niece and nephew.Osaka is not the best teppanyaki in Vancouver but it does its job. The staff are friendly and the food is cooked pretty well. The chefs need to learn some new tricks but they tend to make sure to involve the kids at the table. Don’t come here expecting something new and exciting. There were three birthdays the evening I was there. Ever person was sung the happy birthday song and the restaurant felt fun and alive.I had the steak and prawns to share with my sister. Even a shared portion was too much for me. The cost to split was only $8.00. This gave us an extra set of side dishes and shared proteins. The prawns were slightly overcooked but the steak was done to a perfect medium rare. The seasoning salt was generous enough to add flavour but not too much to be salty. A fine balance that can sometimes go really wrong (trust me).We were provided with two dipping sauces. A ginger sauce for seafood and a mustard sauce for meat. I used my ginger sauce for everything. It was tangy and sweet and complimented each protein. My sister preferred the mustard sauce (there is no accounting for taste). My brother in law had the seafood banquet of scallops, prawns and salmon. It looked delicious (and plentiful). I wish I ordered the scallops… they were plump, juicy and delicious. The salmon could have been taken off the grill about 2 minutes earlier but I’m being picky over this one.I am told the chicken breast was a bit dry, but the teriyaki sauce added the much needed moisture. Still a good dish for the kids. And better overcooked then undercooked chicken. All in all a fun evening with my family. I liked it = 3.0Better tricks at the grill and less cooking on the prawns, salmon and chicken would have raised this rating.

This place is a quite low-end Teppanyaki restaurant own and run by Chinese instead of Japanese. Chefs are from international background. Don’t expect a real Japanese Teppanyaki chef.If you want a casual dine out, this place might be alright; however don’t put any hope on quality of food and the skill of a real Teppanyaki chef. Our dining experience is not very impressive.Chefs stacks plate of raw food ingredients with bottom of plates sitting right on another plate of ingredients below causing contamination. Our chef dropped food outside of hot plate, onto work surface, and simply scooped them back onto the hot plate and continue cooking like nothing had happened. Our chef was coughing all along cooking without turning around or covering mouth and nose.He made a mess on the hot plate and dinning table trying to show off tossing an egg in mid air to catch with his cooking blades but missed the egg by at least 2-3 inches. Splashed some customers and added bonus ingredient to our food …… Egg Shell pieces. We were really not impressed. The price is sitting at the low side of average Teppanyaki restaurants; average $40 per person without alcohol, $55+ per person with alcohol. After all, you get what you pay for.Ingredients (Freshness): AverageFood Handling: Not acceptableFood quality (Taste and Look): Below averageService: Below averagePrice: $$ out of $$$$$Value: Below average

Not the fanciest or most authentic teppanyaki place, but good nonetheless. It’s also well priced compared to other options in downtown. My favourite items here are the friend rice (crazy delicious) and salmon. So tender, and I love the sweet sauce. And like any other teppanyaki place, the chef puts on a bit of a show and provide great service. 🙂

Went in for New Year Eve dinner with my family. I’ve dined in this restaurant about 12 years ago and had a fond memory about the experience. Today my two kids and husband we all enjoyed the dinner. The host and waitress were very kind and the chef of course was funny and entertaining with showing off the cooking skills and fire shows. Only one shortcoming was that the chef used too much butter, salt and other seasoning powder. Maybe that’s why the food tasted so good in a way but the steak and teriyaki sauce were too salty for my taste. Overall we had a pleasant nigh and my kids wanted to go there again so what more can I say?

Plain food for expensive price. I didn’t enjoy the food. The sauce is weird seasoning, not balanced. The food taste plain for the price. Everyone can make stir fry veggie and meat at home. I was expecting more from it. The cooking show is nice tho.

Cool visual experience w/ alright food.. The place was super busy and the best part of the experience was with the professional chef that cooks the food in front of you which really adds an enjoyment factor but the food itself was pretty alright for the price. We did come with coupons from the Entertainment book to get discounts so it wasn’t so bad.

I went to Osakas on July 26 with a group of 9 to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. 9 is a good number with this place as you nicely fill a whole table and get your own chef. A few of us ordered the steak and lobster and it was very yummy!!! I personally had the chicken teriyaki and it was good but definitely enjoyed my bites of the steak and lobster more. With the meal we also were given soup and salad and veggies, which were all good. The chef we had was fantastic, he was very friendly and personable. He also bought the birthday boy and us a few rounds of sake- and who can complain about that?? It was a very quiet evening there for a Friday.. Maybe 3 tables.. But always good to call ahead just in case as it can get swamped.
