New owners are running the shop – a fact I am quite saddened by since they’ve already seemed to have changed the recipe of the yogurt I used to crave so constantly! The bold tart flavour I love has been taken out so now it tastes a lot more like what’s being sold at Menchie’s / Qoola / Yogenfruz – except all of those places’ taste better than the new Scoop yogurt. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be back as a regular anymore unless I was really needing a hit of bubble tea, which is the direction the new owners seem to want to take the place: transforming it into a bubble tea shop, complete with Chinese menus just like you’d find in Parker Place or Yaohan down in Richmond. The new advertising (those colours, that font, them uniforms!), menu, and overall feel of the place is not really in sync with the rustic, cozy, chill vibe of the business’ previous incarnation. Customer service is no longer friendly or welcoming. I walked in and was completely ignored by the storekeeper who was too occupied with her iPhone and when I asked for a sample of the hazelnut flavour I got a half-a**ed dollop of the original with hazelnut sauce dribbled lazily on top – erm, that’s not a hazelnut-flavoured yogurt, that’s just yogurt with hazelnut topping. Feels like the new owners are using the shop merely as a vehicle for their own bubble tea business dreams rather than respecting the original business specializing in fro-yo – which leaves me mightily disappointed! Hey, if your storefront says you’re a fro-yo shop that’s what I expect! After trying twice under the new ownership, I will not be back.
Love this frozen yougurt. There has been a lot of frozen yogurt places popping up lately and I have tried most of them. For me nothing compares to the flavor and quality you get at Scoop. I go out of my way to have this yogurt. I love the salted caramel! It’s fantastic!
